Red Lantern Inn

We really didnt like it. There were renovations going on and it didnt look like the pictures. The room was old and the bed was uncomfortable. Sorry but it wasn’t in conditions to rent rooms.

Unfortunately not a good experience in this place. There is a charming courtyard with Chinese lanterns that make the place cute and that’s about it. The check-in took place in a clothing shop, which was filled with half-made furniture from the entrance to the check-in desk. It was the same place where we also had breakfast that lacked both variety and quality. The room had absolutely nothing to do with the pictures, as it was old and very dirty. The walls were detached and we found so much hair when we lifted the bottom sheet that covered the mattress. We almost thought of staying somewhere else but it was only a night, so we decided to let it be. Unacceptable.

Beautiful old style Chinese inn. Nice room with comfy beds in a convenient location for exploring Pingyao. The guy at check in was really helpful and friendly. The included breakfast was nice and tasty as well.

A great place which has lots of character and is right in the heart of the ancient city, a great place to base oneself when exploring this fascinating city.

On the photos it looked better, but the whole experience was okay. The location is great because everything in the ancient city is maximum 15 minutes away from the hotel. The room is warm (floor heating!!!) but not as tidy as could be (dirty floors and smell in the bathroom). The hostess is very helpful.

It promised a lot and the guy who came to the train station was very nice. The room was clean and warm. The paid-for breakfast failed to appear though which was disappointing.
