I chose a bunk bed, and while the room wasn't huge, it was very clean and had no strange odors, which was a real plus. What really stood out was the environment – an entire complex of courtyards, very spacious. And most importantly, this guesthouse is absolutely beautiful, perfect for taking photos. The service was exceptionally attentive and thoughtful. They contacted me early via WeChat to inform me about the parking location, and staff members were there to guide and welcome me at the parking lot. The hotel is diagonally opposite the City God Temple and next to the Confucius Temple, making it incredibly convenient for exploring the ancient city. Highly recommended! The hotel has a charming, ancient feel and is quite beautiful. It's also very spacious inside, making for a pleasant stroll. I spent one night in a 'kang' room (a heated bed common in northern China) and slept incredibly well. The bed was perfectly comfortable, neither too hard nor too soft, and very large. I loved it; it was the best sleep I've had in days. The only minor downsides were that the room wasn't soundproof and breakfast was a bit basic, but the comfort of sleeping at night truly makes up for it. Highly recommended!

They say there are over 3,900 such courtyards in Pingyao Ancient City, which really speaks to the prosperity of Jin merchants back in the day.
