We've been meaning to visit here for sometime. We have family and friends that visit the Green Park regularly and insist that there is absolutely nowhere better. Certainly as we stood in the carpark overlooking Loch Faskally, the view is both scenic and restful. The gardens aren't massive but there are lots of benches to sit and appreciate the tranquil setting. The greeting at reception was extremely warm. Check in was prompt and friendly. A gentleman kindly whisked our small cases away to our room. We were then given a tour of the hotel and shown the lounge, bar, dining room etc and given an update on how things work before being taken to our room. Couldn't fault the start. Felt special. Our room was I believe a garden room. Nice decor with a lovely view over the loch. What struck us though was the heat. It was warm outside but not boiling. Like many hotels in the area, these are older buildings with no air conditioning. There was a desk fan however. We had a bath with a shower overhead. We're more shower people and it wasn't the most invigorating shower ever but got there. The bed was two singles put together. Over the three nights we struggled, mostly with the heat but my particular mattress rolled either off the bed or into the middle. The fan kept us going but on full power it sounded like an aeroplane taxiing. Fair to say, neither of us slept very well. We do like a cool room so perhaps we're not a fair reflection on individuals but we couldn't have lasted had the weather been warmer outside. Opening the windows and removing the duvet from the sheet and using just the sheet all helped but it was still uncomfortable. Perhaps something like a Dyson in the rooms would help. Breakfast was excellent. Really good choice. Well cooked and the theme for the three days, service by the staff was wonderful. We were out and about over our three days so didn't have the chance to take advantage of the free afternoon tea/ coffee and cakes. Nice touch though. There is also a free sherry before dinner for those that like sherry. Just sherry though. Perhaps another option might be considered?. Dinner was mixed. 4 courses. Starter, soup, mains and desert. The mains are pretty basic. I suspect that is what the majority of the guests enjoy so I get it. I had beef dishes two nights and turkey one night. My wife went for the fish instead of the beef. She said that the fish was actually very nice. The turkey we both had was very tasty and a good portion. The beef both times was really disappointing. Really tough and pretty tasteless. I asked for extra gravy both times but it didn't improve things. Everything else was good but not mind-blowing. I did enjoy the ice and fire pudding. Ice-cream with a nip of your favourite liqueur. Tea and coffee was served in the lounge. It's a first come first table thing so you sit where you want. Both rooms are nice. The conservatory obviously has a lovely view of the loch. Again, the very best bit of dinner was the service. Pa
