This was our second visit to Killiecrankie House, but this time with friends and it is always nervous when you give a recommendation through concern that it does not live up to its reputation and that was the case on this visit. Instead of not living up to our previous experience, it surpassed it. The accommodation itself was excellent, clean comfortable and spacious and the rooms and bed provided an excellent nights sleep. The reason for going however was the restaurant, the food and the service. Starting off with the staff, they could not have been friendlier or more informative, both of the food but also the wine and each member of staff displayed a level of knowledge of the wine in particular, that is normally referred to as The Sommelier. The food, from start to finish was perfection within itself and the fusion of flavours simply left you wanting for more. If I have one comment, it was the absence of something to wipe the sauces from the plate or bowls simply because our fingers simply did not properly complete the task, not that you needed bread to fill any gaps, for the food served was more than sufficient, it is simply because you did not want any to go to waste. There was no particular dish that stood out, they were all simply perfect. As a couple, we enjoy fine dining and have visited some of the best, our most recent being Glenturret which has 2 Michelin Stars. Killiekranie House was way better than Glenturret therefore we do have to ask what the Michelin Guide are doing by not recognising Killiecrankie House. Hopefully the absence of a star if not more will be on its way soon. Would I recommend it to others? Without question or hesitation.

A lovely country house, tastefully renovated in a peaceful location. A creative chef serving delicious and innovative food, mostly locally sourced or grown in their own kitchen garden. Everything was just so full of flavour. Our room was elegant and thoughtfully equipped. Worth every penny, the more so because of the warm welcome and attentive service. Will definitely return.

Friday lunch tasting menu with wine pairing (and cocktails). Outstanding. Great variety of flavour and dishes. Everything we ate was delicious and perfectly executed. Beetroot snack was the first thing we ate - the best canapé we’ve ever tasted. Really interesting potato dish, succulent salmon with an amazing broth, pork belly was spectacular, so soft and tasty and then on to a yummy dessert and sweets. We were lucky enough to have the opportunity to speak with Tom (chef/owner) in the lounge, after service. All staff were super, professional yet friendly and fun. Lovely building and interior. We felt privileged to spend time here and enjoyed our visit. Will definitely be back.

Warmly welcomed, we enjoyed a drink in the lounge amongst vinyl. That sets the ambience of Killiecrankie; a warm welcome, vinyl playing and relaxing drink. The vibe is being in your best pals, thumbing through their record collection and enjoying a drink as your busy life slows right down. Our room was an oasis of calm. Some cocktail ingredients are housemade and exclusive to Killiecrankie; marmalade gin brought me right back to my grandmothers, the Smoked Ume Spritz’s brought us back to the famous smoked lobster by Andrew Fairlie. The meal by Tom, a delight from start to finish, fuelled with quality, taste and imagination, better than some Michelin restaurants we’ve been. Tom’s friendliness and how chefs worked as a team throughout serving put that extra sparkle on the dishes. I’ve ordered the wines and sakes since. After dinner, Tom spoke with all. Matilda and Tom display a laid back ability to host guests whilst serving superior food and drinks. That’s a natural talent. Breakfast was a treat. Tom and Matilda run a fabulous House for their guests. Attention to food, drinks, service, conversation and décor is amazing. Staff are as knowledgeable and attentive. Thank you, Tom, Matilda and team.

Place is amazing. Matilda, Tom and their team are fantastic, right from arrival to departure. The food was very special, lots of surprising twists and different takes on familiar things. Cocktails were lovely, the area is beautiful. Nothing to complain about. We have already booked our return visit.

What a fabulous find, this place is very special. The food is divine and Michelin star standard for sure. What makes it really special however is the relaxed unpretentious approach to fine dining. Tom and Mathilda are so welcoming, all their staff are extremely knowledgable, enthusiastic and proud of what they do. I my opinion it surpasses Gleneagles and Glenturret.
