"The hotel is good, the food is great and there is no insects. The activities are not good tho. Tried 2 times to play tennis at noon and the first time I got rackets but with no lights. The second time I tried to ask for lights in the booking from the app but they completely ignored me and guess what? They didn’t even leave the rackets out"

Piccolo Grand Hotel

Piccolo Grand Hotel

📍 Via L.Chiaravalloti, 32, Pizzo
★★★★ 9.7 (63 reviews)

"Absolutely beautiful hotel, centrally located in Pizzo. The views of the see and village are gorgeous. The hotel is clean, modern and very comfortable. We had a suite with a private terrace overlooking the sea. This is by far the nicest non-chain, non-brand hotel I have ever stayed in. It is a luxury boutique hotel. The staff were very hospitable."

B&B Puerto Seguro

B&B Puerto Seguro

📍 VII deviazione, Via Riviera Prangi, 89812 Loc, Pizzo
★★★ 8.2 (4 reviews)

"A beautiful B&B with very friendly staff. The sea is about 300 m away. Breakfast is slightly, but ok. Rooms good, was completely cleaned every 2 days by a wonderful and very friendly lady. A car is needed if you want to explore the environment. Recommended."

Galìa Luxury Resort

Galìa Luxury Resort

📍 Via Riviera Prangi, Pizzo
★★★★★ 9.0 (42 reviews)

"The structure is very intimate and cared for both in the external environments and in the common areas. Rooms in bungalows, clean and tidy. Equipped with a courtesy kit which also includes a bathrobe. The air conditioning compressor positioned right above the entrance door is a little noisy. Comfortable mattress. Comfortable restaurant room, slightly repetitive menu but good and well-prepared food (fish-based dishes are better). Prices for the bar and extras are incomprehensibly high. Particularly courteous and efficient staff. The swimming pool is well maintained but perhaps those who use it, especially the parents of children, should remember that the hotel is also frequented by other customers. If they don't understand it, management should intervene. Negative point is the location: a couple of km from Pizzo, but reachable only by car. The beach in front (a few tens of metres) is indecent, more like a landfill (obviously not the hotel's responsibility), with considerable crowding of people and vehicles especially during weekends. Perhaps creating a hedge (of oleanders) could mitigate the visual impact and improve privacy."

"It’s newly renovated and looks brand new. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. The hosts Pino and Christina are very friendly and helpful. It is secluded, which we like, but very close to a quaint little town, Pizzo. We booked for a night’s layover on our way from Palermo to Bari. Had we known it was that nice we would have booked longer."

"The pillows were flat and only got one (asked for pillows and said no) , bed was like a rock, air conditioning did not work, dead flys in the swimming pool and crane flies all swarming around the pool, shower temperature changing on its own, only cleaned your room once a week, never cleans your rubbish, swept our room and left a heap in the middle of the floor apart from that it was the best in the world"

Popilia Country Resort ★★★★
"My experience at the Popilia Country Resort was quite satisfactory. The facility is beautiful, the staff very friendly (special thanks to Giuseppe at the front desk, who resolved a problem quickly). We enjoyed the spa, which allowed us to spend two pleasant and completely relaxing hours. I would happily return. I highly recommend it."

Tui Magic Life Calabria - All Inclusive ★★★★
"It was notable that a number of staff we spoke to during our 11 night stay at TUI Magic Life Calabria encouraged us and other guests to write a Trip Adviser report about their holiday experience at the resort - repeated again to those of us on the coach as we left to return home. Subsequently I’ve received a further email from TUI Magic Life urging recipients to write a Tripadvisor report. This seems like overkill or desperation. To issue repeated requests and/or reminders suggests 1) that there is some uncertainty over what the resort currently provides and 2) a desperate need to both advertise and improve its reputation - which is also a sign of increased competition. That said, it’s no secret that all holiday resorts harbour ambitions to become a default destination and the TUI Magic Life brand shares that aim. According to staff we spoke to, TUI Magic Life provides self-contained facilities in beautiful but isolated locations. The one in Calabria is exactly that: surrounded by stunning scenery, with its own section of forest, a large private beach and a complex boasting three swimming pools (1 for tiny tots, 1 exclusively for adults and a main one for families ) plus a superb ‘Splash park’; it has a lot to offer, including many outdoor activities for young, active families. Yet my wife and I are both in our 70s with a 6 year-old granddaughter, so we aren’t in that category. We chose this resort on the basis of its location, Kids Club and Splash Park and its ‘all inclusive’ deal. Many people have highlighted its cleanliness, which is exceptional. We saw no litter or mess of any kind, just a lot of staff quietly appearing to tidy, wipe and sweep wherever necessary. It was surreptitious, ubiquitous and effective. Indeed, all the staff must be commended - whatever their role - as all were courteous and friendly. The accommodation blocks offer good sized rooms with modern bathrooms and feature a fridge, safe, TV and free Wifi. Ground floor rooms have an outside sitting space with four chairs and a table, while first floor rooms have a balcony with table and chairs. We had a first-floor, split-level family room with a balcony - the ‘split level’ meaning it had a staircase to a second room in the roof, big enough for two and ideal for our granddaughter and an extra TV. Generally speaking this was fine, but not everything was perfect. Personally speaking we found the beds rather uncomfortable and firm and in need of additional pillows (which we requested and received). We also wondered if a foam ‘topper’ could be requested to soften the mattress, but didn’t ask. There were no beverage making facilities in the room, which was a shame and an omission also criticised by other guests we spoke to. Perhaps the most concerning was the glass-smooth shower tray, which was dangerously slippery when wet. We therefore resorted to laying a towel on it to provide some grip while washing. This prompted us to request a shower mat, but it was only 30 centi"

"Excellent price quality. Simply rooms but with all the essentials. Attached to the sea, the bar below is excellent and very famous at pizza. There is really good turtle. Free parking. The owners know them well and are really wonderful people. Near the pitch center in only 5 minutes in car. I will certainly return for a few days stay."

"We stayed at the Galia with our 1 year old child, although it is not a family hotel we had a great time. The staff is welcoming and always available, paying attention to every detail. The proximity to the sea (you cross the road and you are on the beach) is a plus, it's a shame they don't have their own beach, but only an agreement with one of the two beaches in front. The excellent, quality cuisine and the staff in the dining room are super, especially Mrs. Anna Maria who won over our child with her sweetness and made our stay even more beautiful. We hope to return soon to relive the serenity and relaxation of this holiday."

Residence Pietre Bianche ApartHotel ★★★
"We had a wonderful week stay here, stayed in the ground floor suite which are so specious modern & clean. It’s a very quiet & peaceful place to stay. Vera & the reception staff were so helpful & friendly & resolved all our needs during our stay. Great pool which was cleaned daily, (we had to ourselves most of our stay.). Pino was also very nice & helpful with our safe & small bits we needed doing. We didn’t have a car but was no problem getting a taxi into the local town pizzo which is 5 minute's away by car. With restaurants, few shops & plenty of ice cream places! You can’t really walk as it’s a main road with no paths. Although we did have a walk there along the beach in the day, a bit uneven & lot steps up into the main town square. The restaurant on-site was very nice & lovely friendly people, they opened at 10pm to cook for us on our arrival which was much appreciated. And delicious dishes. We had breakfast most days which was lovely but would be nice to have a few more choices of different breakfast. Would also be nice if there was a small shop or things to buy near by. Would definitely stay here again. 😊"
