We've just had the best weeks holiday at the hotel with our 2 kids. We'd stayed years before as a couple and liked the hotel so decided to revisit now we have kids and it was great - the place is excellent value. The thing that makes the hotel so good is the relaxed vibe of the place. You constantly feel at ease, the staff and other guests all seemed chilled and happy and it makes for a great experience. I've stayed in super fancy places only to run into rules about what can be done where, grumpy staff telling you no etc, this place just maintains a relaxed and friendly atmosphere really well. The food is decent and plentiful, the beers, wines and kids drinks are also good. Our Merlin room was spacious, comfortable and cleaned daily by Martha who did a great job and provided fresh towels and made our beds placing kids toys and pyjamas neat and ready for our return (nice touch). If the hotel could think about how to connect guests with papagayo beach it'd be a massive plus. The beach isn't far but you have to lug everything over pretty rough terrain. Even simply offering the rental of shades, a trailor or some solution to help families get down to enjoy the beach? Oh and kids kept asking to go to kids club, so the staff are doing a great job there as well.

My family, consisting of my 7 year old twin daughters, husband and a I stayed here last week. We couldn’t fault the hotel, it was perfect. On arrival we were greeted by friendly staff, who also assisted us with our luggage to our room, these gentleman I also noticed would give people quick tours of the surroundings if needed, which was nice. Myself and my daughters are fussy eaters so not the best to review the restaurant but we managed to find something each meal time and enjoyed it. Children were given independence to get their own meals but not to the point that they were running about the restaurant. My husband loved the food and enjoyed sampling everything, his favourite chef being Alex, who he found very friendly and helpful preparing his morning breakfast to order. The waiting staff were all lovely and attentive, these guys work very hard to keep everyone happy. The entertainment team were fantastic, my girls loved going to the kids club and despite my girls being autistic they were made to feel very welcome, Previous vacations this has been an issue but this team didn’t see it as barrier and were inclusive to their needs. The team worked hard doing the entertainment and I loved that they tried to include all the audience by speaking in different languages. There was adult entertainment but I would say this hotel is more geared to families, so if you’re looking for a romantic getaway then I’d suggest looking elsewhere. Pools, plenty pool area and the pools were all nice, kids happy when in but as I went in March it was cold on exit, so I’d suggest fluffy towels etc Rooms … couldn’t fault them, what you see on the pictures is what you get, I was impressed with the service from the cleaners, my room was cleaned when it suited me, if I put up a do not disturb they would respect and even though I wouldn’t expect /didnt ask to return later on in the day they always did. Great service. Drinks : Bottled coke in restaurant Decent at pool pars Alcohol nice Best all inclusive range of drinks Iv experienced. Location It was only a 20 min stroll along the front to get to the marina area. Outside the hotel there was a sports bar showing all the football ( if it wasn’t showing in the hotel sports bar ) Local supermarket Decent park Overall a really enjoyable holiday and my family would return

The hotel staff are all friendly and hard working. Room was very comfortable. Great place as a base to explore as bus stop just a couple of minutes away. This trip was our first abroad for about 15yrs and we were not disappointed. It was my birthday during the week and the hotel provided complimentary chocolates and bottle of fizz. A really nice touch. The hotel is described as a family favorite on the Jet2 site and that is certainly the case. Lots of very loud children about, with very few manors when it comes to the evening meals. However there is adult only seating areas. It had nightly entertainment for the children which gave the parents a bit of a break The food is very well presented with plenty of choice and tasty the only criticism would be alot was luke warm which did them a disservice. The whole place it kept very clean with housekeeping working throughout the day. Lovely choice of pools two of which are adult only. Cold when you get in but it was February. Easy to walk to local shops and bars with the marina about 15mins away and Playa Blanca 30-40. We found Lanzarote a lovely island and a week wasn't enough time to explore so we have already booked to return to the same hotel in May for two weeks

Just amazing. Bubbles on arrival, the hotel is very spread out and has lots of different areas and pool. Amazing for kids with kids club and evening shows etc. food was great and the staff were very friendly. There is an OK beach opposite, the marina and better beaches around 15-30 mins walk away. Best holiday I’ve ever had:)

I read the previous reviews and took the plunge anyway based on the price of half board and unavailability of another hotel. On arrival in reception there was a smell of cleaning products, not surprisingly the place was spotless. This was daily and wasn’t really a problem. We were fitted with wristbands (never experienced this before and will ensure I never will again). We were allocated a superior double, sea view room but didn’t unpack because of the volume of the pool entertainment music (I believe it’s at 4-5pm) and general kids play noise, plus the table tennis directly below the balcony and the toilets entrance across. View of beach and sea was spectacular. The reception staff were extremely helpful and resolved the problem immediately. We were moved to the castle itself, the noise was gone. There was a good choice of food and it was tasty. We were very satisfied with it and again the staff were friendly and efficient. Go for the plates underneath the hot food though as hot food on cold plates means it’s not hot when you’ve made your choices and are back at your table! Not all the plates are warm enough though. We sat in the adults only section (far left side as you walk in) and avoided most of the families with small children, there was a lot! But on the whole it wasn’t a problem. We had breakfast in the family areas twice and weren’t bothered by any noise or the few kids who dashed about. Some of the seat backs were a bit sticky and needed cleaning. Our room was large, a walk in wardrobe was a bonus, the bathroom had a bath, a separate shower with wall jets and a loo. Frosted glass doors are not a worry as others have mentioned. Our adult daughter came with us and slept on the sofa bed. There were only 2 patio chairs provided and as we couldn’t use the sofa, we had to take the dressing table chair outside. Our kettle was new, there was coffee, tea etc initially but these weren’t replenished. We took teabags just in case. Below the tv cabinet there’s a cupboard plus a mini fridge so we bought milk. We used the adult only pool area and used the spa once (£30 for the three of us). You need to book this in advance. We went at 4pm when the sun wasn’t as high and the loungers were mainly all in shade. On the whole we would return with extended family and the younger members. It’s for families and works well for them but for a peaceful holiday for adults, you have to be accommodating and accept that there will be some noise and that the kids are off school at different times!

Positive: A relaxing time at the Gran Tagoro Hotel in Lanzarote. We stayed in June 2024 and enjoyed it, especially the wonderfully large room, positioned higher than this January visit, with a good view of the pool and sea, comfortable beds, large rooms and a beautiful, efficient shower room. Hence we revisited in January 2025. We enjoy Lanzarote and have regularly chosen to visit the whole island over many years. We are an older couple but still like a hotel which caters for all generations and is less formal than some of the other hotels in Playa Blanca. The atmosphere and decor, facilities and layout of the Gran Tagoro on the Papagayo side (east) of Playa Blanca provides a fun enjoyable experience for young and old. However, it has a primarily young family focus and lives up to this - see pic. The main pool area looked real fun! Yet there is a very quiet relaxing adult pool area with a large and small jacuzzi (not working this time), well supervised by the bar staff who were extremely efficient and polite. It was this area (and the large rooms) that brought us back. The variety and quality of the food, given the amount of people catered for, is very good. Staff extremely efficient, tables always cleared and available. We changed our evening meal to lunch each day preferring to eat afternoons. This meal time change had nothing to do with not enjoying the Tagoras' evening food (or wanting to eat at the marina). Dishes varied and were very good indeed*. Do understand the complex works on, and is marketed towards, teenagers, young children and babies, be prepared for very little adult entertainment and some lively noise in the restaurant (we found dodging the children running around a genuinely laughable challenge) and the whole complex may pleasantly surprise you. It was all very clean, dining staff and room service cleaning outstanding. Negative: 1.Reception The reception service could be much better: This was not a queue or efficiency problem but perhaps what could be called a poor customer focus/approach, possibly resulting from a lack of training on issues such as communication, body language/attitude and a general understanding of how this affects the customer, and also the hotel's image. On arrival first impressions count, especially as it is when the bill is settled and guests are often paying out a considerable amount. On both occasions it was lacking. Dreamplace Hotels do need to address this - other reviews have alluded to similar problems. 2.Food Temperature* Some reviews have mentioned the cold food: Yes, it is on the cool side, cold plates too, but microwaves are present in the restaurant. The restaurant layout is generally an extension of the main building, like an awning, and affected by window draughts which does not help. However, more central restaurant seating is available away from draughts. 3.Discern your room carefully, you will experience early morning noise (6.00am ) from pool cleaning equipment, and pool clean

This hotel is excellent for families with your children. As a group of grown women, we also had a brilliant time at the hotel but it’s definitely more geared towards families. The rooms are really Spacious and the food was good. We did. Price a lack of plug sockets, especially around mirrors to do your hair and lighting around mirrors wasn’t great but not a big issue. It’s a long walk to Playa Blanca but taxi’s are around €5. So again, no big deal. We would definitely return as it’s great value for money.

Our 11 nights stay is coming to a end here at Hotel Gran Castillo Tagoro 5 stars. First impression getting off the bus was Wow looks a very nice place. But soon when down hill at check in,For a so called 5 stars hotel took ages to check in the guy on reception took five hone calls why processing us, which I thought was rude when we was new guests so 30-40 minutes late we finally got a room key. The room are very big but standard poor, the air conditioning is very dated with thermostat control on the wall which is that old you can't adjust no remote control and a waste of time for the size of the room. Very limited on plugs sockets and definitely no USD sockets. This Hotel is massive feels like three hotels into one, but when it says family and fun really means kids club everything is all kids kids! There a adult only pool only part of it gets the sun this time of year so if your not up early your getting no sun at the adult only pool. In the evening there is no where for adults only at all so you have to spend the evening with screaming running kids everywhere but very relaxing. The only bonus is the drinks are really good. The hotel has loads of space they could use for my bar areas but there not using which is a shame. Food in the restaurant was ok always something to eat just have to be careful walk about with the kids running about in there, seen afew elderly people nearly get knocked over walking back to the tables with food. The weather was fantastic couldn't ask for more for winter sunshine. So review definitely not 5 stars it's a 3 stars plus. And it's a massive kids club. Don't get me wrong I like kids but when your on holiday you don't want it all and night.
