We just stayed at the H10 Conquistador in Tenerife, and while there were definitely some positives, there were also quite a few frustrations that took away from the overall experience. The good stuff first: The hotel is clean and well-kept, and the pool areas are lovely – perfect for relaxing, plenty of loungers. The food at breakfast and dinner was generally very tasty, with a decent variety. Lunch was the weakest meal, but overall the quality was good. The bracelet is handy (though a little bulky – a slimmer version would be more comfortable). Now for the not-so-great: • Extra charges were everywhere. €15 to rent a towel (cash only), and £1 for each change. €18 per week to use the safe. • €3 for a glass of tap water at dinner, while it’s free at the bar. No tea or coffee with lunch or dinner, which seems odd. • €4.50 for a smoothie made from cheap carton juice – definitely not worth the price. • Rooms are small and feel very cramped for three people – space was definitely an issue. • Our room wasn’t cleaned on days they deemed it “too messy,” which felt inconsistent and unfair. • The back gate was broken from Wednesday through Saturday, making getting in and out of the hotel more inconvenient than it needed to be. • The indoor pool? Locked away and not open to regular guests, which was disappointing. It should be made clear that it’s off-limits unless you pay extra. • In the dining room, we often had to wait for someone to show up at the egg station (around 5 minutes most mornings). Table turnover was slow, leading to long queues at breakfast, and food was being cleared away before the official end of service time. Overall, while the hotel has its strong points – especially the cleanliness, pool area, and some of the food – the constant extra charges and little inconveniences added up. With better service and more transparency about what’s included, it could be a great stay. As it stands, it just didn’t feel like great value for money.
