This is a very difficult review to write as some parts were really good and others pretty disappointing. The rooms - we opted for an AC cabin which actually was not need in June. This would vary by time of year. The rooms are tiny with an almost impossible to access veradah. The bathroom was surpisingly large with a great shower. We have been in far more remote camps with much better beds and linen there is no way they are up to standard for the prices. However not toally uncomfortable either. The Station - we found the buffalo station facinating with fantastic bird life. We only saw one crocodile the entire time. As previously mentioned activities are limited. The air boat was fun but really did not need multiple trips. The guides, Cory, Megan and Jack were all fantastic as were the all the staff. The food - really hit and miss. They started with good quality ingrediends but seemed to be able to serve it only warm and with very poor flavour combinations. Drinks were fine. Although one couple expected higher quality wines. We were there at a time of very low occupancy and I would hate to be there when busy. They really need a more efficent coffee machine especially for breakfast. The management - IMO in place like this the managent should be very visable and they were not. The highlight of our trip was the day cultural trip to Kakadu - we loved it. I am glad we went however at the price it leaves a bad taste in your mouth for Australian tourism.

We went for 2 nights and arrived by charter plane. This is a very expensive place to visit and we expected more. The airboat safari and the drives were interesting however the current management is not at a level that matches the cost. We were told to move our flight back from 1 PM to 11:30 on our last day which made us miss the only thing to do on the property, the airboat tour. We had absolutely nothing to do but watch the staff wash the floor in the lodge. The pool, although beautiful is too cold to swim in. Positives: Kory the safari guide was extremely friendly and informative on birding. Our Air Conditioned Cabin was next to lodge so very handy and well made, no holes in screens. The lodge was screened and comfortable. Drinks, nice wine, good hard alcohol options, good non alcoholic drink options. Good cold water supplied. Loads of birds and wildlife. Nice setting. Cold wash clothes on return to camp. Mar the staff member who handles ordering drinks and showing to room. Family dining room in lodge is comfortable and open to socializing. Negatives: Management, the food! worst food we have ever had in a exclusive remote camp, very crabby chef and no options at all only give you one lunch and one dinner, no appetizers served in lodge before dinner, limited snack options. Pool not heated, swimmable but only for short time, biting ants at pool sofas. Strong dead animal smell as leaving the camp on driving tour in the afternoon. Many of the cabins are not Air Conditioned which in this part of the world is hard to understand. No river cruise as boat is broken. condition of the tour vehicals are very dated. Owners dont show respect for guests as proven by driving in front of our open tour jeep kicking up loads of dust while traveling in a closed SUV. Water Buffalo are live shipped to Asia for human consumption, better to process them in Darwin and ship, live shipping crowded animals is uncaring for these gentle beasts, must be very stressful for them. Will not recommend going unfortunately.

A great place to connect with nature. Lots of bird life here , quite spectacular when you see the flocks of birds on the wet lands take flight. The guides were great and shared lots of knowledge during the jeep trips and airboat ride. There are quite a few buffalo, wild horses and pigs around the property which are great to watch during your downtime. It’s a beautiful spot. The accommodation is rustic but comfortable , clean and functional . The food was very good and chef was good at accommodating for people’s requirements. The team were all very welcoming and helpful. I would say that 3 nights is probably the right amount of time to stay and get the full experience.

Bamarru Plains works on the African safari model. The meals were first rate, prepared by a French chef and with knowledgeable wine pairing. Snacks and drinks were always available, with a great selection of wines, beers, and spirits. The public areas overlooking the plain were exceedingly pleasant, complete with infinity pool. Similar to the African model, there were activities in the morning and late afternoon. The morning activities were on the water. Although were we warned that the airboats were not available due to low water levels, we did go on the airboats. The afternoon activity was a wildlife and scenic drive around the property (an active buffalo station), with plenty of birds and wallabies. Almost all of the guides were very informative. We did the optional day excursion to Kakadu -- it was very expensive but worth it. The staff was very helpful, especially in dealing with our lost luggage and changing our return flight. The one qualm was the quality of the accommodation. We had selected a cabin with AC, which was essential in early October. But there were no bedside tables, the area for clothing storage was minimal, and the light in the room after subset was wholly inadequate.

Wilderness trip with expert guides, glamping type of outdoors bungalows, fantastic excursions and gourmet food. Ask for air conditioning since not available in most bungalows, which is the main critic. Choose the right period to go, not too near to rain season

We loved our experience at Bamurru Plains, it's a very special experience in a very special location. Without exception the staff were amazing and the tours incredible...the airboats, as most people have said, are the highlight but the afternoon safaris are also special. The guides are knowledgeable and really add to the experience. I liked the fact that we got to know a couple of them a little bit better when they hosted dinner. Dinner, like all meals, was exceptional, Tiffany and her team created some magic in the kitchen which defied the remote location. The accommodation is unique, very clean and l loved the 'tent' feel that connects you with the environment and wildlife and birdlife, it's very special! It was around 35 degrees each day we were there and it was hot in the room but fine if you are directly below the roof fans... the pool is also a good place to hang out in the afternoon. I can see why some people might struggle with the heat but l would (and will) be back.

Substandard accommodation. Room had no aircon in extreme heat, no bar fridge. Sealing for room inadequate so soon learned not to turn the lights on. Was attacked by bugs at night until I felt like a decomposing corpse with gnats crawling through the ceases of my neck. Staff are delightful, friendly and hardworking. Food excellent. This place is not the standard of the equivalent glamping places where I’ve been.

Just like to thank the management and staff who looked after my family and I on our holiday in June 2023 at Bamurru Plains, it is such an amazing place to stay as it's a once in a lifetime experience not to be missed, from the accommodation to the amazing food to the wildlife tours on the wetland to the bushland and I can't forget the amazing infinity pool looking out at the bird life and water buffalos, brumby's, wallabies etc. It should be a must for all to visit it's a life changing experience !
