Hotel Karuna

This hotel might not look flashy to you from the outside, but the inside is not only flashy but facilitated and comfortable as well. If you don't want to stay in the resort nearby, then come and feel the fascination of staying in Hotel Karuna. It is highly conveniently located with affordable restaurants and laundries. The restaurants nearby include Punjabi, other Indian restaurants, Chinese and local restaurants. There are numerous hotels nearby and all of them are wonderful and huge. This hotel would be considered small and old from the outside compared to the other hotels on the street, but actually from inside, this is one of the most wonderful hotels. Did you know there is a balcony as well? The view is breathtaking because when you open the window you see the peak of Fishtail Mountain in the Himalayas! If you walk a little further outside the hotel, on the street, then you can see the majority of the peaks in The Himalayas. Not too far, is Everest view point! You can see Everest and Fishtail Mountain as well as Annapurna range all located in the Himalayas! If you arrive by 7:00 at the Everest viewpoint then the view you will see would be sensational! You can also pay 100 Nepali rupees and earn a cup of tea on the balcony of the Everest Viewpoint! There are even more startling places near Hotel Karuna and so I highly recommend you to come to Pokhara and stay for as long as you like at the spacious and fantastic Hotel Karuna!

Very good hotel with warm and friendly staff. We really loved staying here. Highly recommended. Very good price given the quality of rooms and service. Well located. Dogs barking at night so advise asking for room at the front not the back. Free hot drinks in reception is a nice touch.

This is a great hotel, committed to reducing their environmental impact and providing a friendly personal service. The owner and staff provided lots of advice on what to do in Pokhara and places to eat. The breakfast was great, with gluten free options. I would highly recommend it

We traveled from Canada to visit friends in Nepal. In total we had a group of ten and booked 5 rooms with Hotel Karuna and stayed for almost a week and used the hotel as our base between taking local tours, a hiking trek and and an adventure tour. We did our bookings in advance, directly with Kelly and her staff at the hotel through email and phone. The hotel facilities are lovely. The rooms were nicely laid out and clean. The main lobby contained a great space to hang out or meet before/after activities and also doubled as the site for morning breakfasts. On the subject of breakfast - it was included with our stay and let's just say, it was tremendous! All of the staff at Hotel Karuna were warm, friendly, caring and attentive to the needs of their guests. Optional laundry service was a bonus for us, as we had packed light. Beautiful Hotel - check! Wonderful, clean rooms - check! Great staff and location - check! Value for the Money - definitely! We would highly recommend Hotel Karuna to anyone traveling to Pokhera. Excellent stay. Only negative was the very rude male night manager who made us feel unwelcome and acted as if we were irritants when asking him questions. The day manager - who was a lovely young lady was just the opposite.

I like this hotel very much. The building itself is terrific - lots of plants and spotless. The staff is wonderful, as is the breakfast. Two notes which might be helpful: If you select the upgraded rooms with mountain view, it’s on the main street, and can be very noisy, especially with all the dogs barking. The less expensive rooms, on the back side, don’t have impressive views, but they are extremely quiet. So it’s a trade off; depends on one’s priorities. And just so expectations are realistic, know in advance that the power goes out, frequently, every day, often, 3-4 times in a day. It might be for 10 minutes, it could be for an hour +. Where this can be a big factor, is with the fan and air conditioner off, the room can get uncomfortably hot. I say this only so folk are aware ahead of time. Both the WiFi and air conditioning worked well, and the shower was excellent. The power outages for me were a big deal as I spend lots of time in the room. For others, especially if they are out and about all day, it may be minor. Overall, a very nice property. There are 4 floors and no lift / elevator.

The staff were so accommodating and welcoming and I loved the eco-friendly approach too. Walking distance to main shopping area and dinner and also safe and quiet spot. I felt so comfortable here, even as a female solo traveller.

Stayed here 4 times in November 2022 and April 2023. Spacious rooms, clean bathrooms, wide balcony, tasty breakfast, helpful staff, close to town. Excellent samosas up the road - turn right at the exit and walk up the road 50 m at Raja Chat Centre. Also, very helpful and late opening shop (soft drinks, chocolate, booze if you need it) over the road.
