The reception staff rude and not very helpful, always with an attitude Food disappointment, not much choice, very poor quality products used , breakfast foods overcooked for lunch Only one pool out of 4 was open and it was very dirty, Advertising 5 restaurants and only one was opened Animation team great guys but only 2 of them there was nothing for he adults in the evening Bar drinks were ok , but loads of improvement needed in staff Rooms nice and clean , change bedding every 2 days But didn’t replace used shampoo and shower gel since arrival. The was no activities for the kids at all , as in pictures , no kids room no kids pool , Aqua park was closed No beds on the beach, even though it says beach hotel on the website Hotel is beautiful and has loads of potential, but management and reception staff brings it all down . Wouldn’t go back or recommend to anyone.

So we came for a week to the sunset resort. First thought was omg what a beautiful building the rooms where spacious and clean . The bathroom had plenty of towels and also shower wash was provided which was a nice touch. Also we had a bottle of water and coffee provided .We liked the keyless entry to rooms so you entered the room with a wrist band which was a nice touch again . My son had a little accident and I went straight down to reception and the maids come back so quickly and resolved the problem. We found the little shop over priced I got charged for 2 bottles of water goggles and a little toy 48lev. The swimming pools where a nice size and plenty of sunbeds to choose from. Also the 2 pool bars had plenty of drink. My daughter now has to to to AA meeting for the amount of free ice creams she had 🤣 By the Wednesday we noticed one pool being shut which we was a little unhappy about but then it didn't put a damper to the holiday as there was another pool to go to. The food was okay we didn't go hungry just some ideas of food was a tad strange but we didn't come to bulgaria to have English food . Another nice little touch was the pool towels you was given a card at check in and then go collect your towels and then change them every day . We also got to see two weddings whilst we was there for holiday which again was lovely to see . Entertainment well.......... was very boring quiz twice dancing under stars twice and then bingo . My daughter enjoyed the kids dancing but was only for 30 minutes. We had a sea view room so if you can afford it go for it because the view is amazing. Thank you sunset resort

The hotel is ok a bit basic but staff try hard. However the food is terrible and the cleanliness is not up to scratch. Also everything shuts at 10pm so it’s hard to have an evening..this is a not a good hotel for older children. Pool area is nice and access to the beach is great. Entertainment is a bit dated but they try and offer options during the day. The waterpark is fun to use and easy to get to. I would just advise to think about food options and maybe not to take older children as it is very restricted.

The hotel is gigantic in terms of buildings and outside area. A total of 6 massive buildings makes the hotel seem like a giant. But this also makes the area feel spacious and not crowded at all. Some of the apartments in the hotel is sold as holiday apartments to private people, which I assume adds to the feeling of not being too crowded, since the occupancy is not full at all times. I spent a week in the main building “Sigma” at the 6th floor with a view towards the water park. The apartment was quite nice, with a small living room, bedroom and a kitchen area. The apartment standard was ok, not high end, but neither bad. Some wear and tear was quite obvious in the apartment. For instance some loose electric sockets, loose floor lists and cracks in tiles and walls. However the general feeling was that the apartment looked nice, but I guess it kind of depends on your expectations. I would say it’s a stretch to call the standard a 5 star hotel. We enjoyed the stay with an “all inclusive” package that included breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks. All in all, the food was good, but lacked some variety. A lot of the food was fried, and it didn’t feel like a lot of different options were available. The outside areas consists of 4 separate pool areas. All of them are spacious, with lots of sun beds. Two of the pool areas have a pool bar that serves drinks and ice cream. Due to the amount of sun beds and outdoor area, the normal problem of finding a free sun bed was not present. We could almost at any time of day find a place to be, and even if some people reserved their bed by adding their towel, it really didn’t feel like an issue. A nice addition to the all inclusive package, was the towel service. Open between 9.30 am and 5 pm, you could once a day exchange your beach towel for a new one. The surrounding area of the hotel is quite abandoned, not many restaurants, shops or things to do. So if you want to do something outside of the hotel, you basically need to take a taxi to the closest towns. This also makes it quite essential to choose an all inclusive package when staying at the hotel. Since food and drink options outside are limited.

We arrived on Monday 29th for a week we are still here, booked on a B&B basis as our grandson is such a picky eater. First night we paid 125 lev for the 3 of us for dinner, which all we had was pizza and chips! Me and my grandson have not been for a breakfast yet, my partner goes though, we are at the snackbar which only consists of pizza, fries, pork burger, my grandson was really hungry , so got a pork burger and I was charged 8 lev, I'm furious as we are not eating any breakfast, oh and if he wanted fries it was extra, I've actually seen people throw more away, I would have thought they would have let a 13 Yr old boy have a burger!! Other than that, hotel is huge like 6 altogether, room is very basic but cleaned every day ( in a fashion)! We found a lovely little bar/restaurant turn left past the supermarket left again, we will be eating there during the rest of our stay, really reasonably priced and food is very good, not much else around unless you like walking Sunny beach has gone right downhill since the last time we were here, it's such a dirty place now, but bus stop is outside the hotel it's 4 lev each and it's OK to go and do some shopping! Still quite cheap on that aspect I don't think I'll come back to this hotel, it is nice but too out the way with a fussy 13 year old

We travelled as a family of 5, myself, husband and 3 teenagers ranging 14-17. We did have a good time, spent quality time with our kids but it could have been so much better. The good - Fantastic facilities, the 3 bed apartment was huge, clean and had everything we needed. Maid service excellent. - Pools large, clean (most of the time), great bar service by the pool, sunbeds available no matter what time you arrived, water polo twice a day and other games hosted by the entertainments team. - Waterpark, amazing, not too busy, clean, lots of variety, a truly fabulous attraction. - Restaurants ok most of the time but after 4 days you will want something different. - Pomorie is a hidden gem if you walk far enough to reach the end and don’t give up half way and end up in the quiet area before it. It has great restaurants, bars, shops and other attractions. - The staff work really hard and are very helpful and friendly. The bad - As other reviewers have said, there is literally nothing to do after 10pm. The lighting dims, there is no music anywhere and everything stops. We arrived on our first night at 10:30 and went to have a drink, there was no one about, I asked the staff where the people were and they said, in bed! - We had 3 teenagers with us but they were bored in the evenings, they are used to meeting lots of others at a resort like this but there is nothing for them unless you want to pay for bowling. They tried the pool tables but they were impossible to get on as they were hired out by the hour and once booked that was that. - The pool sides or beds are not cleaned at night, they put everything back together but don’t clean up spillages and the beds are dirty. The first thing I did was get pool water to get rid of the stickiness on the floors when settling down in the morning. - Beach bar not all inclusive, this actually looks like the most fun bar with some music and atmosphere but no one went as once you have paid for all inclusive you don’t want to pay again. - Only 2 a la carte restaurants open, the popular Italian that people love was closed & the nightclub was also shut. The ugly - We all had a sickness bug which may or may not have been food poisoning, this kind of ruined the first 5 days as we went down one at a time. Day 1 my daughter, day 2 me and I couldn’t leave the room for 36 hours, day 3 my son, and then the other 2 in our party days 4&5. I spoke to other families who had also been very sick during the same time. Reception said it was a normal sickness bug that does the rounds in Bulgaria every summer, I have been to Bulgaria in the summer before and not had this. They shut the restaurant for re-organisation one day soon after we all reported our sickness! All in all, we made the most of it, met some lovely people, enjoyed pool time, the waterpark and played a lot of cards past 10pm. I would urge management to do the following; - Open up all facilities and allow all inclusive for those who paid all inclusive.

Our stay at the Sunset Resort was a mixed bag. Our 3 bedroom apartment was spacious clean with a beautiful sea view. Maid service daily. Although our apartment had a washing machine it would not work. Reception were unhelpful saying it was up to the owners to fix it. As we booked through jet2 we were unaware that the hotel let out apartments owned privately. Reception on the whole let this place down. Not very helpful and certainly not welcoming. As they are your first experience of the hotel this is a real negative and cannot be attributed to the Bulgarian way of dealing with people. Other staff were nice. The hotel has lots of facilities- pools slides etc but I would agree with others that some maintenance is needed. This place has a 5 star appearance but below the surface there are let downs. The food was varied. Always something to eat but it was mostly tepid which is not good. The hot plates in the buffet were never hot so food got cold quickly. The desserts were lovely. All inclusive drinks were OK. The bar upstairs where you pay for drinks was worth it. Lovely terrace to sit and drinks were much better. The bar staff were friendly too. The kids club staff deserve mention. Really nice to the children. Entertainment at night was mixed. Not much atmosphere. The water park was good especially as it was part of the all inclusive deal but again it looked tired. We enjoyed our stay especially as it was not busy at the resort . This place could be fabulous but attention is needed . Jet2 should really be looking at the issues here. Probably wouldn't go back without major improvements which is a shame because the apartments themselves are great.

I am an anual visitor to the hotel and every year I witness the deterioration... The rooms are not as clean as they should be, although the staff do their best. The cuisine is not that good also, more variety is needed. But the staff ia very friendly, the animation program is great as always.

The hotel itself was tired. Lots of lose tiles and slabs everywhere. My son cut himself in the pool with a sharp tile. This was reported but it wasn’t acknowledged. The rep from jet 2 was great but it didn’t seem like the hotel was interested in any feedback at all. Food wasn’t great and very samey night after night. The kids club and childrens entertainment was AMAZING. all staff that worked there were so good with the children and nightly entertainment. They really made the hotel. The water park was easy to get too and being part of all inclusive also made the trip. You have to pay extra for drinks and su beds on the beach.
