Follow Saleta’s instructions and keep to the left of the valley, whatever Google might tell you otherwise! The Hotel in the depths of the valley is well appointed, rooms are comfortable. The whole family give their guests a warm welcome and lots of advice on places to visit, things to do and where to eat, especially in nearby Combarro. Saleta speaks English. The family includes the array of animals in the paddock adjoining the hotel: a horse, pony, donkey, sheep, several goats, geese, hens and a cockerel. And 2 dogs, one whose self-appointed duty is to welcome visitors as soon as they open their car door on arrival, and at breakfast to alert ‘Management’ should a cat trespass in the garden. The other, a border collie and more serious, keeps watch over the whole menagerie, herding them back into the meadow should they attempt to head back to the paddock. Breakfasts are presented with artistic and culinary talent: a great variety of fruits, nuts, hams, cheeses, and cakes laid out on a board; fruit juice, teas, coffee, cereals, yoghurt and bread are also to hand. A great place to stay to make the most of nature, the forests, streams and old mills and still be near to the coast to visit the Rias and the islands.
