Hotel Amfora

Hotel Amfora is an attractive ,comfortable, remarkably quiet hotel in a town centre location. Decor a bit tired but spotlessly clean with good quality bedlinen.Friendly and obliging staff, nothing too much trouble. Free parking just around the corner, and a EV charge point 7 mins walk away. Restaurant was busy and service fast, my only comment was that the vegetarian burger was disappointing. Caters much better for meat eaters. Would definitely recommend as a base for WW1 battle field visits, and don’t miss the incredible Talbot House museum 5 mins walk away.

I picked this hotel because of its Tripadvisor rating. I wasn't disappointed. It is situated in the middle of town with plenty of parking on the square (parking charges apply, but if you arrive in the evening you can park overnight for 1 Euro). The friendly and attentive staff speak excellent English which was lucky for me as my Flemish is awful :). There is a lift so you don't have to struggle up stairs with luggage and the room was well appointed, clean and quite spacious with a view of the square. The Wifi is excellent. I sat on the outside terrace for a couple of local Belgian beers then went into the restaurant to eat. I had classic Belgian cheese croquettes with frites and I was given a free taster which was delicious. It was a Monday but it was very busy with locals - a good sign - and the staff were rushed off their feet but were still providing good service. Breakfast was good with freshly squeezed juice and eggs cooked to order. I can't fault this place. 10/10

Short three day stay here for the Poperinge beer festival over the last week in October. Great location; smart well run family hotel with good rooms and excellent food. Lovely breakfast each morning with fresh eggs and great breads and pastries. Evening meal one evening and the steak and frites was excellent. Would highly recommend a stay here.
