Travellers Budget Motel

No hurricanes were raging. Tourists are everywhere. It's just that many scenic spots are not yet open, so the flight is very cheap now. Very close to the city center, just a short walk. The staff are friendly and trustworthy. The price here is very cheap, most of the food costs only ten dollars. The local chefs are amazing. Return to the room as soon as possible after cleaning, and you can bring your own drinks and food if you want. Everything is very accommodating. The pool is great, sunbathing and reading areas abound. Jack and Janelle are the directors and they know a lot about the local area and can book everything for you. I'm already planning my next vacation here.
Pacific Lagoon Apartments

We stayed here our first three nights after arriving in Port Vila and LOVED it. Highly recommend paying the bit extra to have a waterfront bungalow - we had #6 (two bedrooms) I think and it was just heaven having the water lapping just 15 steps out from the back sliding door. Location was so peaceful and about 5 drive into the centre of Port Vila. The bungalow itself is quite basic but very clean and a great hot shower, tv, lovely table and chairs at the back overlooking the lagoon, and temperamental wi-fi which worked better by the pool area. There was everything we needed in the kitchen (including microwave and coffee mocha!) to be able to self-cater which is handy where food and eating out in Vanuatu is pricey. You are a mini-bus taxi ride away from supermarket/Port Vila town centre so worthwhile picking up essentials such as drinks, beer, milk on way there if possible, to tide you over until you can do a bigger supermarket trip. (Note that supermarkets stop selling alcohol in Vanuatu from 11am Saturday through to Monday morning.) Manager, Chris, was incredibly helpful to us and helped make our stay very enjoyable. We went to Three Pigs restaurant (1km) our first night and second night when we had a car we drove to a Thai restaurant Chris had recommended. The pool is inviting but quite small and was cold whilst we were there, but there are kayaks to borrow and all sorts of snorkelling gear, reef shoes etc that we didn't need but could be handy. This really was a lovely place to begin our hols, enjoy the lagoon views and slide into the island vibe.
Grand Hotel & Casino

Our check-in was somewhat a bit delayed due to no reservation. The gentleman who served us, Willie, was fantastic. He was able to accommodate us after looking into the booking and requested we discuss the matter with the reservations team the next day. After dealing with my booking agent very early the next morning, we were able to sort the issue out. Apart from the cigarette smell as soon as you enter the hotel lobby and the stench in the lifts, the hotel is perfectly situated in the main town with a couple minutes walk to the ever-bustling market. The room offers splendid views of the waterfront which was absolutely breath taking. I was very impressed with the room especially the cleanliness. If the hotel can somewhat separate the entrance to the hotel and the ****** from the hotel lobby, this will surely lift 'first impression' image of the hotel.
Sunset Bungalows
4.3/58 Reviews
We had a lovely time at Sunset Bungalows, everybody was so friendly and welcoming, a special shout out to Maria, who worked every day from cooking to reception from early in the morning to late at night, the cleaning lady and the night security man were also so lovely, he waited with us at 4.30am for our transport to arive to the airport. The rooms are nice, bed comfy and a beautiful outlook when you open the doors to the lagoon, with the water lapping up the front, the whole resort is looking a little tired, but after being hit with over 2 years of COVID and 2 cyclones this resort is still trying to recover, the only downside for us was the lack of choice in food, but was not really an issue we just got a bus into town and ate in there. The town is also still recovering a lot of places are still closed or have shut completely but all in all if you want a nice quiet place with great service and beatuiful people with clean comfortable rooms then you will not be disappointed with Sunset Bungalows.
Hotel Olympic

A business hotel in the city center with a great location, with supermarkets, restaurants and shopping centers nearby. The facilities are average, but worth the price. One disadvantage is that it is located on the main road and is very noisy at night. Wa people go to bed very late at night, wake up very early in the morning and speak loudly. There is no possibility that they will noisy other people's consciousness. I heard someone talking loudly until 3 o'clock in the evening, and it was very noisy outside at 6 o'clock in the morning. It is not suitable for travelers who like to sleep quietly at night. There is also a poor hotel service. There is a guest reception room downstairs in the hotel for check-in and check-out matters. It says that there will be reception from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and call for service the rest of the time. As a result, I did not check in at 4 o'clock in the evening, there was no one in the reception room, the door was locked, and no one answered the service phone, so I could not contact Ctrip to solve it. The hotel called me until a quarter past five in the evening, saying that someone was there and I could check in. Checked out in the morning and asked the receptionist. She said that someone would start reception at 8 o'clock in the morning, but she didn't come to work until 8:30. I have also stayed in several hotels in Port Vila, and this one has the worst service.
Mangoes Resort
4.2/530 Reviews
We just finished a stay at mangoes resort and unfortunately it was not at all what is advertised. The property itself is quite rundown from the rooms to the pools. There was mold through the bathroom in both rooms we stayed in, and the air conditioner did not work in the second room as it was too old yet, the owner still tried to charge us a higher rate to use the room. The TV hard drive does not work either and froze the whole TV in the two rooms after just 5 minutes into using it, which was extremely frustrating and there were only 4 channels that worked. The shower also flooded to our ankles on the first night and the maintenance worker pulled out big clumps of hair the next day which was disgusting considering that flooded up all over us while showering. On the last night there were also bugs through the bed and my wife and I woke up with bites around our ankles. We were very relieved to leave mangoes resort and will not be returning as we couldn't even enjoy the space knowing how dirty it was. Also their taxi prices outside are extremely overpriced so don't be fooled like we were when you can pay just 2500 vato to get to hideaway Island by taxi instead of 8000 vato. I hope this helps others who are also expecting a resort experience as the name would suggest. Their instagram photos are quite misleading also, the pools were rusted especially the pool with the mini waterfall, given the state of the resort we did not feel comfortable swimming. The staff were the only upside as they tried to help us but their hands were tied as the owners did not show much concern around the issues we faced and instead tried to make excuses such as telling us all hotels in Vanuatu have mold due to the weather which is not true. We just wish a review like this existed before we wasted money staying at this accommodation.
