Best Western Plus Portage Hotel Suites

Comfort Inn and Suites; Filthy rug.. I got called in an emergency as my mom 102 years old, and my sister, 76, both fell and I had to get to their home fast. Paramedics had to be called. Because I was not able to get back until about 1 pm, and I was leaving that day, they still charged me for the whole day and night. I fell in the shower and as it was the last room, I was not able to get another room. The shower had no handrail to balance me, the grip on the floor of the bathtub was to worn to balance... I am now having to go to many doctors because of the bruise in my hip. (I warned them this is a law suit waiting to happen, but they don't care at all.). The room had the wall brace for towels and stuff removed and poorly finished. The up keep is very poor and the cleaning staff seems to be overworked. I got a room for my family as well, and their room not too bad... all this Hotel needs is serious cleaning... it should be 3-4 at least.. I wont to there again because of their lack of understanding. I had reserved the room, even called, but they could not exchange the room the fist nigh.. so.. all the medical stuff I brought, I just couldn't move to another room

This hotel has been going down hill for a long while I’ve been going here of and on for 9 years used to be a great stop but now the rooms are run down the staff is rood if you are a CLC member you are not even getting point to stay there which I feel is belittling there are plenty of other and much nice in the area for the same if not cheeper prices

Hotel was clean quiet and conveniently located Good breakfast selection including to go options fresh fruit biscuits and gravy Biscuit sandwiches hot and ready and nice staff at front desk very helpful

Where do I even start with the Best Western? It was a terrible stay. We arrived late on a Friday evening—probably around 8:30 p.m. We had been driving all day to get there for a long weekend at Indiana Dunes NP. We were tired and wanted nothing more than to relax. Our room was on an upper floor, so inevitably our key cards kept not working. We had to return to the front desk 3 times to have them recheck the cards. Finally, they put us in a different room. The keys stopped working 2-3 more times over the course of the weekend. They said it was our fault, but I find that unlikely given what happened when we arrived. Our room was not great. The refrigerator didn’t work, which was unfortunate since I have refrigerated medication. Had to use the ice bucket, which isn’t ideal. The bathroom was terrible—no fan, the tub didn’t drain properly and there was plaster missing from various parts of the ceiling. The motion sensory lights were annoying and woke us up anytime anyone got up to use the bathroom at night. Breakfast wasn’t great—one morning all of the milk cartons were past their expiration dates and spoiled. I wasn’t impressed and we went out to breakfast our last morning. The location is ok—it is a good location just off the turnpike and near the National Park. However it isn’t in a walkable area and there’s not much around it in terms of restaurants, shops, etc. Overall, next time I would pay more to stay somewhere else, even if it was a little further of a drive into the park.

lack of cleanliness, used linens, unhelpful staff. We stayed in a suite to start with. Looked barren and the furniture was dorm reject type. Bed had been slept in, which we found as we were ready to go to bed. Had to redress and repack. Night guy didn't really want to give us a new room. Downgraded us to double queen. no discount. at least it was clean.

Booked hotel for family get together so we could all enjoy the pool, hot tub, and fitness room. Hot tub was closed down, roped off, and covered. Pool is not heated and extremely cold, had to ask for towels for the pool, fitness room was closed, Recommend eating breakfast across the street at Dennys. Only saving grace is that the rooms were clean.

Service was great asked for a wake up call and front desk came to my room and knocked on my door to wake me up. The breakfast was good nice to have it open at 5am because I was leaving at 6am. Places to eat within walking distance.

My name is Jasmine Baker and I stayed this past Labor Day weekend I was appalled by the lack of customer service and my overall stay with Best western portage. Upon my arrival there was no assistance at the front desk for the first 15 minutes As I watched two employees take a smoke out front and once they came, they lacked any sense of urgency or care. They informed us on Saturday afternoon when we got there at 2:30 PM that the pool was being treated that day and would be unable to be used at that time. When we returned fortunately my children and I were able to get in for the last hour from 9 PM to 10 PM. There was no towels or washcloths for us to take a shower with, and when I asked the front desk personnel for the towels I had to follow her into the employee, Parikh, to the laundry room to get one face towel that my children and I had to share because they had no towels. When I asked the staff why there was no pool towels available the personnel told me she doesn’t like to put them out because the kids overuse them so I asked her for three extra as another guest and her family were swimming and I wanted to avoid the personnel having to get up twice. The next morning I woke up at 7 AM to get breakfast, and the same eggs we’re sitting out from yesterday, there was no other food, the juice machine was down and there was juice all over the floor. There was absolutely no one working the breakfast area and the lady at the front desk was apparently working alone. We were never served breakfast or given a breakfast bag to compensate,and at 9 o’clock the doors were locked for the entryway to breakfast. Other customers were also upset that none of the amenities that were offered online were available to be used yet the cost of the hotel was more expensive than surrounding areas simply because of the amenities that they offered. I waited from 9 o’clock to 10 o’clock to ask about the pool which they said would not be open due to it needing to be treated again. When I asked her if we would be compensated for no hot breakfast and the inability to use the pool, she said her manager was on the way and that she was working by herself. I waited to speak with the manager and he told me it’s not his problem that the pool is closed and that I was late for breakfast which is why I had nothing to eat. When I told him this was a lie and I have video proof and I just wanted him to take accountability and simply refund a portion of my payment he berated me to the point that another customer standing nearby told him that he had been up with me the whole time and witnessed the lack of service and availability of amenities. The customer went on to tell him that he should be ashamed of himself for trying to manipulate the circumstance instead of taking full accountability and the manager proceeded to tell him that he was talking to me and not the other customer and will get with him in a minute. There was complete lack of customer service, and their disdain to repair what

The rooms were filthy. First room had ROTTING FOOD and other trash left behind by a previous guest. We were switched to a new room. The second room had stains on the carpet (one which looked like BLOOD), stains on the sheets, and a broken chair. We were switched again to a final room which had candy wrappers, stains on the sheets, and hair underneath the pillows, but this was the best out of the three rooms. Front desk staff were professional and were doing their best to help us, but there is clearly an issue with the cleaning staff. I would avoid this hotel!
