The room was clean, but Applebutter Inn was our least hospitable stay in Slippery Rock to date. We had much better experiences for less $ at the local chain hotels. I requested breakfast at 8:30 AM instead of 9 AM so we could make a 9 AM orientation at SRU. Despite giving an hour and a half notice, and only asking that it be moved up 30 minutes so we could quickly eat before we checked out, they said NO (!!). Instead, we were welcomed to make ourselves instant oatmeal. Only one other room was occupied, by the way, so it's not like they were busy. We didn't see anyone who worked there during our stay - not at check-in at 4:45 PM on Friday, nor at check-out at 8:35 AM on Saturday morning. So at check-in, for example, no one said "breakfast is a 9am, but if you need it earlier, please let us know by xx PM because we refuse to accommodate changes after that" This information was apparently buried in an email they sent, but we also received several emails from them referencing check in procedures at properties we were not even staying at. It's not like we starved, we picked up a quick breakfast at the local gas station after we checked out, but their utter disregard for our guest experience left such a bad taste. A $200 room at a bed and breakfast could have been so much more pleasant! This is the hospitality industry after all. Inflexibility over something so minor is jarring. Ultimately, this example shows how little "New Management" cares about guests. This is their prerogative, but it is not the kind of hospitality I will pay for. Up to you.
