Hotel Garni Ongaro

We planned our based on renting a car, but were denied a car. We arrived late in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Patrik the owner was kind enough to offer to pick up for a fraction of the usual taxi fare. Patrik went to great length to make sure we still enjoy our hiking trip bu using public transport. Don't count on chatgbt here. Patrik even suggested the beautiful Monte Novulau hike which was simply awesome. Breakfast was of high quality and he off true Italian coffee. The whole place feels more like home as Patrik fills the place with his creative masterpieces art, crafts and Moto GP collections. We were thrown in chaotic stress after not being able to get a car, Patrik saves the day and make sure.we have a memorable stay in the Dolomite. Highly recommended and don't doubt choosing Garni Ongaro. You will feel at home.

On arrival we were met by the owner who was very friendly and welcoming. The room was large and very clean. The room was cleaned regularly every day, beds made up, fresh bedding was put on for us and towels replaced. Quality of sleep was good, the bed was comfortable. Breakfast we found there to be a good options of food, from cereals, yoghurts and warm foods. Mr partner very much enjoyed the cakes which were excellent and definitely needed for a full days of hiking. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to get away to the area for a budget holiday. Great views from the hotel. Friendly staff/owner..can’t go wrong! We were driving from Salzburg to Venice and were looking for a place to stay overnight. Called ahead and booked it because it was the best option between pricing and distance from our route. When we wanted to check in we showed our Ukrainian passports and got threatened then physically pushed out of the hotel. On my way out I saw a pretty disturbing portrait of Ramzan Kadyrov and figured out the reason for these actions.

We were denied rooms because we are Israeli. Absolutely devastated by the antisemitism of this hotel staff. Never thought this would happen in 21st century. I hope these people start looking for peace and human dignity and love instead of hate.

I stayed at Hotel Garni Ongaro during a recent trip to Italy, and it left me thoroughly disappointed. From the moment I arrived, I encountered a series of issues that made my stay far from relaxing. The room was noticeably outdated and poorly maintained, with creaking fixtures and stained carpets that hadn’t seen a proper cleaning in ages. The air conditioning barely worked, and it was a struggle to get any comfort from the overly stuffy room. Service was another major letdown. Requests for extra towels or a quick fix to the broken lamp were met with indifference, and the front desk staff seemed more interested in chatting among themselves than addressing guest concerns. The breakfast buffet, which I had hoped would be a redeeming factor, turned out to be a sparse and uninspiring affair—far from the hearty, fresh start one expects in Italy. The only slightly redeeming feature was the hotel's location, which offers a pleasant view of the surrounding area. Unfortunately, even that small positive couldn’t compensate for the overall lack of care and attention evident throughout my visit. I left feeling frustrated and dissatisfied, and I wouldn’t recommend Hotel Garni Ongaro to anyone looking for a comfortable and hassle-free stay.
