Hotel was excellent with everything! Clean rooms / fast elevator / very good breakfast Close to everything / very nice staff

I had a lovely week stay here. Room was spacious and clean . The lady who cleaned and changed my towels was lovely and friendly. Food was ok . But with me not liking fish or meat on the bone I was limited to what I ate . The hotel itself self was very clean . All the staff I spoke with was pleasant and nice . No noise while I was sleeping

Positives Good location, close to shops, bars, and restaurants. There are two different types of pillows on the bed. There is a fridge to store drinks, etc. The shower head was detachable in the bathroom. The lighting in the room was good. The rooms are cleaned daily, but the standard of cleanliness depends on who cleaned your room. There are plenty of plugs, but it would be nice to have USB sockets for charging equipment. The majority of the staff were lovely. Negatives Only two out of three lifts work, which causes a long wait during busy times. The lift is also not level with the floor and is a tripping hazard. The rooms are a bit dated. The beds are too hard. They need some memory foam toppers. There's no kettle in the room. Sun loungers are very uncomfortable. The plastic digs into your back. They need cushion covers on them. The pool is small and freezing cold. If you have a direct sea view, you will get noise from the Anderson bar until the early hours of the morning. Don't leave any unsealed food out in the room. We brought some pizza back from a restaurant, and it was full of weevils the next day. We saw a similar thing with a neighbour's cake left outside the door. This makes me think the hotel rooms are a bit unhygienic to have critters in the rooms. There is not enough storage in the rooms. The furniture is open glass shelving, which looks horrible and is dangerous, in my opinion. The gym is small, and the equipment is old. The elliptical trainer handles were dirty, so I don't think the equipment is routinely cleaned. The air conditioning did not work in our room; however, we didn't require it during our stay. It might be an issue during the summer. Food is okay for a buffet restaurant, but the bread and pastries are stale. There are not many vegetarian or vegan opinions. If you have these dietary requirements I would recommend booking on a room only basis. The soft drinks are OK, but the house wine and beer were not to my liking. I would not recommend this hotel if you have children because they will be bored, there's nothing for them to do. If you get a reasonable deal, then the hotel is perfectly acceptable to use as a base to explore puerto de la cruz.
