Hotel Best Semiramis

An overrated hotel. I would actually expect more as a 5-star hotel (already factored in the comments from other reviews so I have lowered my expectations). Breakfast is good, wide selection of choice, staff are friendly. Hotel facilities are ok, a small outdoor pool and another indoor pool plus gym and other facilities. What I find it disappointing is that the hotel is quite poorly maintained, for example walls in the corridor are a bit damaged. The cleanliness of the hotel room is another red flag: the bathroom sink was not clean. We saw a cockroach in the bathtub before we took a shower in one evening. The wall is also quite thin so you can clearly hear noise from other rooms. Location is not the best either: it’s fine if you stay in the hotel most of the time. But it takes a long time (and costs a lot) if you want to go to the main city Santa Cruz or even just to the South Airport.

The Wi-Fi in this hotel is unbelievably slow — like a turtle on vacation. Even loading a basic webpage takes forever. Totally unacceptable in 2025. The reception service was equally disappointing. I called from my room asking for a simple spoon, and the receptionist told me to get it from the bar. At first, I thought they meant the minibar — only to realize later that the room doesn’t even have one. There’s just a basic fridge, nothing else. I tried calling reception again, but no one answered. In the end, I had to go all the way down to the lobby and find another staff member just to get a spoon. To make things worse, the hotel wasn’t even busy — yet they still assigned me a room at the very end of the corridor, as far from the elevator as possible. That decision made absolutely no sense and showed a complete lack of consideration for guest convenience. This place is nowhere near 5-star quality. The furniture is basic, the decoration is outdated, and even essentials like a kettle require an extra rental fee. This hotel has no real service, no luxury, and no charm. Avoid unless you’re okay with a 2-star experience at 5-star prices.

Booked a full board and food was up to expectations. However do note that drinks (alcohol, soft drinks and even water) are charged separately even under full board. The bed in the room was adequate and had a great unobstructed view of the coast.

Lovely hotel with incredible views over the sea, very nice pool, good location with restaurants etc nearby and a 15 mins walk to the main part of Puerto de la Cruz (a bit steep on the way back). Plenty of parking within 5-10 mins walk. Breakfast is good, only negative is that the lifts are quite slow.
