Maroma exceeded our expectations in every way: the service, the food, the amenities, the beach it was a perfect getaway. The rooms are gorgeous and comfortable… not to mention the luxurious linens and beds!! The setting is magical… understated luxury. And it’s all about the beautiful beach with fine white sand!! Can’t say enough about the attractive and warm service we received. It made our getaway very special!! And do NOT skip the spa!! What a wonderful escape!!

We visited the hotel two months ago. We had an extraordinary experience and decided to return. We did not think it could be any better. We were wrong. It was sensational! The hotel is in pristine condition, but it is the service personnel that exceeded expectations with obvious excellence. Every wish or desire is fulfilled with genuine pleasure. If I didn’t know any better, I would’ve thought we were the owners. We will return again shortly.

Just returned from 8 days at Maroma. This really is the most perfect hotel in a truly glorious location. Maroma is situated on a beautiful stretch of beach - the colour of the ocean is incredible. Rooms are fantastically decorated with local artefacts and furniture, many with superb ocean views. There are two excellent restaurants serving delicious food. In addition there are two further bars, offering glorious cocktails. What sets Maroma apart from any hotel we’ve ever stayed in is the staff. The service is, without exception, first class. All employees appear to enjoy their jobs, they make it their business to learn your name, they are professional and incredibly friendly. To name a few - Ricardo (for his brilliant service around the pool), Roberto (the incredibly talented mixologist making delicious cocktails at Freddy’s bar), David and Jorge (the exceptionally friendly waiters at Freddy’s), Oscar (a friendly face at breakfast) and Sabrina (our super-helpful Concierge). We can’t find fault with Maroma. The most perfect 8 days. We can’t wait to return in 2025.

Beautiful hotel, amazing food & beverages, well-appointed spa and the most incredible service ever. This hotel sets the bar at the highest level in terms of an overall 5-star experience. It feels like you are stepping back in time at this intimate resort. The setting is perfect with beautiful wide white sand beaches and turquoise waters. The 2 main restaurants offer a wide range of elevated options that focus on the natural local ingredients. Bambuca lounge serves well.-crafted cocktails, with first class service, in a setting that feels like old world elegance. The staff are the most gracious and attentive we’ve ever experienced. Across the entire resort - from the restaurants to the beach to your own personal concierge - you will be treated like royalty.. Our concierge, Sabrina, took care of every detail and went above-&-beyond to make our experience the most special in every way imaginable. The staff are constantly amazing guests with thoughtful surprises. We also had the pleasure of experiencing the Guerlain spa and were hosted by Rodi, Claudia, & Julie - what a gift! If you are looking for a big, bustling resort…this isn’t the place…but if you are seeking one of the most special, intimate, & luxurious experiences…get here as fast as you can!

My family and I stayed at Maroma over Thanksgiving week and could not have had a better experience. For context, we have stayed at highly-rated, five-star beach resorts in Maui, Cabo, Punta Mita, California and Florida. Maroma is--bar none--the finest beach resort we have ever experienced. We will definitely return. Each interaction with the staff, whether big or small, was marked with warmth, care and attention to detail. Our primary personal host, Carlos, was kind and attentive to every request, especially when we asked if the main restaurant, Casa Mayor, could prepare an off-menu, family-style dinner for us one evening. He and his team made a point to check in with us at least daily to make sure everything was going well and that we did not have any needs. Speaking of Casa Mayor, it is a wonderful spot for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The staff recognized us by name after our first visit and made a point to always have our preferred table ready when we entered (we never requested this). The servers had a level of attentiveness and intuitiveness that would normally be associated only with a 2 or 3 star Michelin restaurant--this at a casual, open-air restaurant. Often the all-day dining spots at resorts are boring, bland affairs, but Casa Mayor provides a premium experience at each meal of the day. The second restaurant, Woodend, is open only for dinner. The staff there were just as warm and attentive. The food was very good as well, but some people may find the menu a bit limited, as compared to Casa Mayor. This was no bother to us and we quite enjoyed our two dinners at Woodend. While Maroma has a nice pool, this is really a beach resort and fortunately the beach attendants are first class. Each attendant knew us by name and made sure that our chairs were set up with towels and chilled water at the beginning of each day. They made routine (but not intrusive) visits to drop off complimentary tropical drinks and snacks, and to make make sure we didn't need any other food or drink items. Once they confirmed that we preferred to have our lounge chairs in the shade, they watched the sun/shade line like hawks and swooped in to adjust our umbrellas within moments of the sun's position changing. We several times noted how amazing their timing was in this regard. Is it absolutely necessary to have this level of attention on the beach? No. But it is one of many small details that add up to make Maroma a top notch resort. As for the beach itself, the sand was cool to the touch even in the afternoon heat, the water was clear most days (aside from a couple where strong winds caused a bit of cloudiness), and the water temperature was perfect. I understand that sea**** can be an issue in the area in some parts of the year, but it was nearly non-existent during our November stay. The beach activity station provided complimentary wake surfing boards and paddle boards. Snorkeling, scuba, and Hobie Cat tours are available for reasonable

The hotel is extremely expensive and it is of course good, but it is the least good Belmont we have visited. There are not not many facilities and there are only two real restaurants which are ok but not amazing. It is very windy and some days impossible to sit at the beach as sand gets in your eyes and they do not out up the umbrellas so there is not shade. There are not nearly enough seats at the pool so on very windy days there is no where to go but back to your room. The staff are very helpful but again, everything is so expensive. There are no other hotels within walking distance to go to eat and the hotel wanted $250 dollars to arrange a taxi to the nearby town. Breakfast is over $100 per person and a coffee is nearly $20. This hotel is ok for two or three nights but avoid windy months!

We had a lovely 5 night stay at the Marmara. Had a beautiful room, with round tower overlooking the sea. Morning coffee experience was lovely, beach in front of hotel was great and resort did not feel full. Good restaurants. A few hiccups and misunderstandings means it does not get 5, though were delighted with how management responded during our stay. We were pleased we chose the Marmara

Our family just returned from a week at Maroma. This is a very, very special resort with a beautiful property, excellent food and exceptional world class service. We've vacationed at 5 star hotels around the world including a number of prominent Caribbean resorts - and the service at Maroma was a clear step above any we've experienced before. The resort itself is beautiful, quiet and well-maintained. The rooms have been nicely renovated - comfortable beds and linens, excellent shower with great water pressure. Housekeeping and turn down service were thorough and unobtrusive. We spent most of our days swimming and lounging at the beach with Onesimo and Sergio, 2 of the greatest beach attendants to ever walk the earth. Even though the Mayan Riviera beaches aren't as nice as the best of the Caribbean, the beach itself was quiet, clean and well-maintained. Our family likes to snorkel and one sunny morning we took a boat right off the Maroma beach to a nearby reef where we snorkeled for a couple of hours in clear water among the fish and turtles. One of the biggest surprises of the vacation for us, was the very high quality of the food at the Maroma. (We have typically dreaded mealtime at Caribbean beach resorts.) Breakfast at the Maroma is excellent with no buffet (a big plus for us), and fresh Mexican specialties served every day. The service (and food) at breakfast...really at all the meals at all the venues - Casa Mayor, Freddie's Bar, Bambucco , Woodend, the beach BBQ, was outstanding. But I would give an extra shout out to Maya from Verazcruz (breakfast) and Angel (at Bambucco) who made our mealtimes special. I don't know exactly how they've managed to develop such a culture of excellent, friendly service at Maroma. But Federico Echaiz, the Resort Manager and his top managers are visible on the property and engaged with staff and guests to ensure that things run smoothly - which not a "given" when a hotel is starting up again after a 2 year renovation. There are of course the odd teething problems. At one of our dinners, the restaurant was busy, our entrees got lost in the shuffle and ending up coming very late. (The Maroma comped us dinner.) The Spa facility is very nice and the massages were excellent. (Another shout-out to Roddy at the Spa.) But the reception desk at the Spa still seems to be figuring out its offerings and check-in process. But all in all, these were minor distractions to an otherwise perfect vacation. We booked our Christmas vacation very late this year and consider ourselves lucky that our usual Caribbean resorts were fully booked. Otherwise we may never have discovered the Maroma - a very, very special place. We will return!
