Servatur Altamar

We have been staying at Altamar since 2011, but this is our first visit since it became Servatur Altamar. Firstly I’d like to talk about the improvements we’ve noted: 1. Apartments now have aircon as well as a ceiling fan, that’s a game changer! 2. Sun lounger towels are now given in addition to bath towels, this is a great addition. 3. Automated safe deposit boxes (used to be a key from reception). The negatives: 1. The entertainment. Oh my, it was NOT good. I don’t understand why an organisation as big as Servatur would not pay for decent entertainment. We thought it was brutal! Thankfully, as self catering customers, we had plenty of choice elsewhere. 2. The drinks at the bar have gone so far downhill. Ordered a beer on day 1, served with no head and minimal fizz, couldn’t finish it. Ordered cocktails on day 2, Pina Colada was just ok, Love of the Beach was very unpleasant. We did not try the bar again for the duration of our trip. 3. Sun bed wars were BAD! The parts of old Altamar that are still there, such as the amazing balconies and amazing views still contributed to a lovely holiday overall, but our entertainment and socialising had to be done offsite due to the poor entertainment/beverage issues. Despite 10+ visits in the past, I’m unsure about whether we will return

We just came home last night and had to write a review to compliment the hotel and staff. We were very impressed with food. Glad we went all inclusive the food is amazing. We have stayed in many 5 star hotels and honestly the Altamar comes out tops. Amazing sea view from our room on the 4th room number 106. It’s great to have loungers on balcony also table and chairs. Rooms are very spacious , little kitchen area with everything you need. I like the funicular for getting up and down to pool which is on the 3rd floor. The Europa is only a short 5 minutes walk with lots of bars and restaurants. Adamores beach all down hill is 5 euros in taxi. Lots of taxis outside hotel. We are in our late 60s and found getting about the hotel was easy. This hotel deserves 4 stars. We are booking again for January but for 2 weeks this time. Had an amazing week at this hotel. The view from the pool areas across the bay is something to see. We walked down to Amadores beach twice and also did the steps down to Puerto Rico Beach . Due to the afternoon heat we got a taxi back to the hotel. It is very easy to get around and all staff are very friendly to help you whilst you are there . Food throughout our stay was amazing something different each evening. Obviously there was some sane dishes as it is an all-inclusive buffet option, but we always found good food choice to eat from breakfast through to evening meal .

Ignore the critics! This place is above some 4 star places we have stayed. We found Altamar to be very good value for money. The food is varied and delicious. The whole place is constantly being cleaned. The staff are friendly and helpful. The beds are comfy and the rooms cool. Beautiful views. Kids love it. Not too busy. Great having a reasonably priced shop in the hotel. The lift is unusual, but adds to the charm! There are lots of steps, but it’s good as I haven’t done much else! Haven’t been to town (yet?) Didn’t struggle to get a sunbed. Would come again. Recommend!

Have just come back from the hotel and really enjoyed it. The food was nice and plenty of choice. The meat/fish was always cooked well. Sometimes the food wasn’t overly hot but it was always cooked well. There is only one bar and restaurant for the whole hotel. No snack bar, the main restaurant serve snacks most of the day. Never really much of a queue for the food or the bar. Pool was really nice. The water was lovely and warm, and seemed to be clean too. Plenty of sunbeds and parasols. There are two pools but we only went in one of them. Staff were efficient and friendly. The room had air conditioning which was brilliant as the weather was really hot.

Great hotel and well catered for families. The kids pool is fantastic with plenty of entertainment. Adam the events guy was brilliant children throughly enjoyed his activities in the pool. All inclusive is great with a good selection of food. Only thing I will criticise is that it would benefit from an actual pool bar and snack bar closer to the kids pool! Parents were having to gather kids up dry them off then walk into the restaurant dressed and dried off to get the benefit of the all inclusive snacks or drinks. This is not an easy task when kids are wanting to stay in the pool but you cant supervise as its out of sight of the kids area.

Me and my partner stayed at the Servatur Altamar this June for 10 nights, we stayed at Servatur Azul last year and thought we'd try another hotel of theirs as we seen it opposite last year , the staff there are fabulous at Altamar nothing is ever to much and they really do look after you. The rooms are really nice massive balconies kept really clean and the cleaners do an amazing job keeping them pristine. The only down side we found as we was all inclusive the evening food was a massive hit and miss we went out for food during the evenings as it was more fish dishes and not so much selection - the entertainment was really good but it only lasted 45min if they could have more acts or something abit longer that be a winner , they do a BBQ every 3 nights and thats unbelievable the food off there was something else really good. Overall its a great lovely place its a shame they dont have more selection like they do in Servatur Azul but being a smaller place its more understandable its quieter more of a relaxing place.. we absolutely love Gran Canaria and Servatur Azul is our home from home that place is like heaven on Earth they truly are the best of the best in the hotel world , I would recommend Altamar for couples looking to just relax and get away from the hectic life back home,

Great location with great views, this hotel is worth the price you pay. They have all inclusive and self-catering options. They do day time activity's and nighttime entertainment. They have two large pools, small park, small gym and a pool table. They also have a local spar shop on site (closes at 8pm) Hotel is child friendly. Food can gets a little repetitive but reflects 3 star quality. Only disappointment is that it doesn't have air-conditioning but you can rent it from a local business. 7 euro taxi to commercial centre, 5min walk to Europa Centre. Short taxi to Amadores beach & Puerto rico beach. 15-20 minutes walking. Around 40 euro to Aqualand (freshwater) and around 20 euro to the saltwater park Taurito.
