We enjoyed our spotless, reasonably-priced, updated room with friendly and helpful staff at the welcome desk in this gem of an old-fashioned hotel in a very good location in Old Town. For those who prefer the cobblestone streets and lively, noisy ambience of this neighbourhood, with terrific little restaurants like Macareno's, La Ruta, Rico Coffee (best coffee in Old Town, imo) and too many others to list, plus funky bars like Salty Caesar's, Villa Del Mar would be a great choice. There are suites with kitchenettes for long term stays but they are highly prized and difficult to get, we were told by a reliable resident source. Our standard room has a firm but comfy bed, nice pillows, a balcony with trees growing up to the second floor so all sorts of birds land on the branches an arms' length away, and a wonderful big shower, modern toilet and a big sink and vanity separate from the shower and toilet room. A brand new dresser and clothes hanger were installed while we were here with upgrades ongoing it seems. All good. There is a sweet set of rooftop decks, two for the true sun lizards at the top and a huge one running the length of the building with flowers and plants, chaises lounges, picnic table and other amenities so that people can take a break from day trips and the busy world outside. For those of us who need to connect for work and/or family reasons there are 3 internet boosters so there is very good to excellent internet connection too. Best of all, hardworking, friendly maids and front desk staff who are so genuinely helpful and welcoming to us. We don't know if we'll be able to return to PV but if so, we'd come back here in a flash. The only thing I would add to give it 5/5 would be a small but deep dip pool...

The staff were not forthcoming or friendly. I had communicated with the hotel to delay my reservation for 2 weeks and decreased the number of days from 4 to 2 which they assured me was totally OK and that I would be refunded. I had originally booked a room with two beds. When I arrived they told me they only had rooms with one bed. When I persisted, they finally said I could have a room with two beds for an additional night's fee, not acknowledging that I already had a refund coming. So, everytime I mentioned my refund, they phoned someone & said yes I had a refund, but that they couldn't do it at the hotel desk, it was the reservations dept somewhere. Once back home I kept contacting the hotel's reservation dept. for my refund but was told I had to send my banking information, including my account number in order to be refunded. I was not comfortable sending this info. so was told it was the only way. I feel very scammed as they still owe me for 3 unused nights which they acknowledged but would not refund my credit card or paypal, both doable options. The beds were hard and the inside rooms were stuffy and very noisy from unruly guests.

This was my first time ever costing Mexico, let alone Villa Del Palmar. I am enjoying my stay and service staff like Ricardo, Hugo, Emiliano, and Purla at the restaurants make you feel special no matter time of day. It was our first night there, limited tables because of the crazy rain, and they made a table happen for me, my elderly mother and 5 year old son. Thank you for making us feel special and food was actually great:) Special shout out to Ricardo!!! He’s truly awesome!!!!!goes above and beyond!

We were accosted from arrival by the Time Share concierges. Don't fall into that trap of getting free stuff. It states only 90 min but its more like 5 hours of your time. The 1 bed room I picked had a veranda all the way around so you could have a view from the living room or the bed. After seeing the room they gave me, I went back to the desk and showed them the picture of what I booked and was told they do not have any rooms like that. It loud and noisy as you can hear other rooms and doors slamming all hours. I am so sad that I wasted 4 days here in a room that was not as advertised.

We have been staying at this lovely hotel for over 25 years now and plan on staying many more years! Everything about the hotel is first rate! The management and staff have become like family to us! The location is ideal, just blocks from the beach, restaurants and many shops! We always look forward to our return!

Trying to get through to reservations is a nightmare. We have booked 4 weeks and trying to get confirmation and information. The concierge will not take calls as the airport is a disaster for pickups and overcharge for the drive to the resorts.

Have been coming to Palmar in pv for 24 years. Had a small issue but Francisco, head of food and beverage, went above and beyond by granting us a dinner on the beach. Alphonso, whom I’ve known for all 24 years, was our waiter and he was excellent. Jose, captain of dinner and Martin, our chef, did a wonderful job on our seafood dinners.lovely evening and what a great way to celebrate my 74th birthday
