The property was current yet had a beautiful old world feel to it. I would call it Colonial Mexico. SO CHARMING AND NICE

The Garlands is a boutique hotel located in the Romantica area. Excellent location. Easy walk to restaurants, beach, markets and entertainment. Very nice staff. Clean room and premises. Loud music starting at 9am which is not the hotels fault but still something to consider. We had a river view room but the river is dry so not much of a view. Bathroom is very dimly lit so a bit of a challenge to apply makeup. Sister hotel is a short walk and also very nice with a rooftop pool for a bit more sun.

The location is fantastic and close to everything in Zona Romántica. Max greeted me and checked me in; he was phenomenal. He did a tour of the property and provided great recommendations for food and events. Marta checked me out and was very polite and allowed me to stay on premise until my flight later in the evening. The hotel is charming and feels cozy. Also recommend checking out their sister hotel as their pool, the view, and bartender are fantastic.

Beautiful place with unique character. Felt like we were escaping reality. Walkable distance to all areas of the Romantic district. Great breakfast and friendly staff. Wonderful stay.

Garlands Del Rio is our top pick for future stays in Puerto Vallarta. The charmingly quirky but comfortable rooms and the serene setting along the Cuale River are hard to beat. Outstanding too are the kindness and attentiveness of the staff. We came to look forward each morning to breakfast on the terrace along the river with a nice variety of options and great coffee. Be aware, however, that very few of their rooms are mobility friendly -- there are lots of stairs around the building. Also, during major festivals, parades along a nearby street may prove a bit noisy, but they do provide some stunning local color. As to details: the beds and pillows are super comfy, the showers hot, the wi-fi reasonably fast (OK for streaming and Zoom), and the honor-bar by the pool fairly well stocked.

Our stay at Garlands was so very nice! We were greeted by super friendly staff on our arrival and a cold drink and chips and guacamole- after a long day of travel that was such a nice surprise. What a great location - so walkable to downtown and malecon We enjoyed a nice breakfast on patio each morning before heading out to explore old viejo Vallarta! Highly recommend this great boutique hotel.., you will be glad you stayed there.

I arrived at the Garlands Del Rio hotel with great expectations. After being shown the room they gave me which was similar to a dungeon, they showed be another room, similar but more of a pit. Then they showed me a lovely room telling me that that would be $40 extra per night. We agreed on $30 extra per night and was checked into the room. It wasn't until after I entered the room that I noticed the picture of the room I was in was the category of room I reserved. Where I should've gotten this room in the first place, and then upgraded as my platinum VIP status permits, I received none of that. All I received was an upsell from the very beginning. The front desk representative, Marta was very rude and dismissive of my requests. I asked to speak to the manager and didn't receive a response until the next day when they told me that I could stay in the room that category that I had reserved and they would refund the added upsell expense they put on me to be in that room. Totally put a damper on my and my partners experience and comfort in our stay there. In addition, I found the property extremely rundown, they are so-called hot tub was buckled, delaminating and perhaps dangerous. There was a shelf next to the hot tub, held up by angle brackets with nails and screws protruding almost an inch from where they should be seated for proper connection. Our room was filthy there was a layer of dust on top of the armoire that you could plant in. Sorry, this app denies continuation!

I stayed in the Marquese room and absolutely loved it. Also the general area and patios were so lovely. Filtered water everywhere a nice touch.
