Anantaya Resort & Spa Chilaw

Was not happy with the cleanliness of this hotel. I've added pictures for context. The bathroom had horrible thick mold around the sink. Behind the bedhead the partition screen was packed with dust and cobwebs. The phone was disgustingly dirty as well. The cradle of the phone actually had dirt particles heaped in there. The couches were stained, the blinds in the bathroom didn't work. The entire place was pretty worn which was surprising since it apparently opened in 2014. I informed the reception staff that the room needed cleaning and showed her pictures but she just looked at me blankly. So I said we'd be out all day if she could please have someone clean. That was 0730 am when we got back at four only the bed had been made up none of the dirt cleaned. I called and informed the staff but they didn't really seem bothered. So I said I'd be putting in a review, later that night the the house keeping wanted to come into the room be shown the dirt and clean! At 9 pm at night. I refused. 🙄. The pool is reasonably nice but they really need the pool as the beach has extremely strong surf and has red flags up with good reason. Also there is a lot of litter washed up on the beach which is unsightly.

The room was nice and big but didn't get why they opted for see-through glass walls (some blinds covering it!) for bathroom?

We had a truly superb experience at Anantaya Resort & Spa, Chilaw — one that we will cherish for a long time! What stood out most was the perfect balance the staff strike between being attentive and giving guests their space. There was no unnecessary interference, which made us feel completely at home — as if the entire resort belonged to us. That sense of freedom and privacy is something rare and truly special. One thing that particularly impressed us was their flexibility with room arrangements. As most hotels strictly allow a maximum of three guests per room, we were pleasantly surprised when the resort accommodated our family by allowing our two children, both above 12 years, to stay together with us in a spacious quad room. This thoughtful gesture made our family stay so much more comfortable and convenient — and it truly reflects the guest-first mindset of the management. The rooms were comfortable, well-appointed, and immaculately maintained. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a top-class getaway in Sri Lanka. We will definitely be back!

The location is great but a vacation that could have been great was reduced to an average one due to the following. First, the rooms could do with a major refurbishment. The wooden floors need a good cut and polish. The window blinds were not rolling up properly. The Bamboo slat blinds in the bathroom were in tatters. The Airconditioner was locked at 24 degrees and the blower was not strong enough to cool the room due to the heat outside. The ceiling fan had to be run constantly to be comfortable. Second. The food was average too, being in a town which is known for seafood there were not enough seafood options also the taste of the food left much to be desired. The only silver lining was the service at the restaurant which was great. The staff was very attentive and courteous. Although the property is advertised as a resort and spa there were no brochures which provided information on the treatments available there was also no room service menu in the room. During our stay there was a power outage during the early morning around 3a.m and the room lights did not come on after it was restored. Calls to the reception was not responded to; finally dialed the restaurant which answered and conveyed the message. Issues was fixed soon after.

We had an absolutely amazing experience at Anantaya Resort & Spa Chilaw..! From the very beginning, the staff made us feel welcome and cared for. Rebecca coordinated our booking seamlessly, and the reception team greeted us warmly. A lovely staff member assisted with check-in, escorted us to our room, and explained everything to ensure we felt comfortable in the new environment. Special thanks to Dilan, the Restaurant and Bar Manager, who oversaw the dining experience with great attention to detail. The entire hotel team was exceptional, always greeting us with cheerful “Ayubowan” and smiles that added to the charm of our stay. 🏝️ Location & Atmosphere The resort’s location is perfect for relaxation, offering a serene and peaceful setting. It’s ideal for groups and families, with plenty of activities and a child-friendly environment. The beautifully maintained garden enhances the natural beauty and tranquil vibe of the property. 🛏️ Rooms & Comfort Our fully air-conditioned room was spacious and comfortable, with a balcony overlooking the beach. The Full Board package was well organized, and the bathroom was spotless, featuring hot water and a jacuzzi. Fresh linen and tidy arrangements made the stay even more pleasant. 🏊 Facilities The two pools were clean, well maintained, and perfect for unwinding. Although the beach was a little rough, the hotel kept it clean, ensuring a pleasant coastal experience. The pool staff were also very friendly and attentive, always on alert to ensure guest safety. 🍴 Dining Experience The food was a highlight of our stay..!! With a wide variety of both Sri Lankan and international cuisine, every meal was delightful. The Restaurant Manager Dilan and restaurant staff were attentive and helpful, making dining a truly memorable experience. Additionally, we had ample child friendly options for food that made our stay less worrying. ✅ Overall Impression Anantaya Resort & Spa Chilaw is a fantastic getaway offering excellent service, beautiful surroundings, and a relaxing atmosphere. From the warm hospitality to the stunning location and delicious food, everything exceeded our expectations. Would definitely recommend..!!

We stayed at Anantaya Chilaw for one night. The food was delicious, although the variety could be improved. That said, considering the price, it offered good value for money. The rooms were reasonably comfortable, clean, and well-maintained. Overall, we had a pleasant stay, and it is a good option for those looking for a relaxing getaway at a reasonable price.

We had an absolutely wonderful and memorable stay at Anantaya Resort & Spa, Chilaw! From the moment we arrived, everything was handled perfectly. The resort itself is stunning, and the view is breathtakingly beautiful perfect for a relaxing getaway. A huge shoutout to the incredible team for their top-notch service. Everything we requested was arranged precisely and beautifully without any delay. We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Sithmi, Oshadi, Devyani, Milan, and Apsara for their outstanding hospitality, warmth, and attention to detail. The whole experience throughout the stay was very good and also Hotel is in a beautiful and quiet location which we enjoyed so much and its was a very relaxing time. The rooms and the wahsrooms are also comfortable and if you could give bit of more attention to maintenance of washroom will be much better. The food was very good and the staff was very good and they are very helpful. Overall experience was fantastic.
