The location is great, and the reef is nice for snorkelling. The room was spacious, and the walk-in wardrobe is a nice addition to the experience. As for the service, I'd say it's disappointing for the 5-star hotel. It seems like the place lacks proper management engagement or control, which results in staff being rude, inattentive, or lazy. For example, the room boys routinely forgets to refill water , towels, or snack bar, the beach staff fail to restock toilet paper or paper towels for up to 6 hours in the only beach toilet, and the beach bar staff only make appearance every 2-3 hours. One particular lifeguard would be harassing the younger female guests into closer contact with him (like going snorkelling with him and so on). But the most problematic part for me was the disappointing quality of food in most restaurants. Firstly, there's precisely one grill cook, Kareem, who actually knows how to cook on grill. The others overcook everything, have to be asked to redo simple dishes, and only manage to do this with the guidance of the head chef. Secondly, most of the dishes from other cultures, has been cooked wrongly. The ceviche in the seafood restaurant you have to book in advance was just frozen shrimps fully covered in sriracha sauce, the tempura shrimps with orange and wasabi lacked both orange and wasabi and so on. I fully appreciate that other guests might have different position and love the vacation they had in the hotel, but my husband and I had very mixed experience during the stay.
