Sherwood Queenstown

This hotel is located in the Queenstown Lake area. It's convenient if you're driving, though I'm not sure about public transport options. The room was very spacious, with a separate living area, and the bathroom had a great wet/dry separation. There's also a courtyard and convenient parking. It's about three or four kilometers from the town center, so walking isn't really feasible. The complimentary breakfast was a bit small, offering just one food item, one drink, and a small pastry. The restaurant has a strong British pub style, which felt quite exotic. In the middle of the night, the fire alarm went off and fire trucks showed up, but it turned out to be a false alarm – a bit of a funny incident, actually.

Rarely do I give a five-star rating. While the facilities might not be top-notch, the service definitely is. This is a chain hotel. I had booked two nights here because the road to the fjords was closed for the first two nights of my trip. However, after speaking with the staff, they kindly refunded one night, allowing me to stay in Te Anau for a night instead. Later, the front desk realized they had assigned me the wrong room type – it was a single bed when I should have had something else. I thought it was still acceptable, but the front desk offered to switch rooms immediately. I declined because I didn't want the hassle, so they offered complimentary breakfast instead. The hotel has its own restaurant with delicious food, and there's also a small vegetable garden. Plus, you get a fantastic view of Queenstown's lake, which is really great.

The location is excellent, especially if you're driving, as parking is very convenient. The room was great, and the bed was incredibly comfortable – easily the best two nights of sleep I had during my entire trip. You can also pick up milk at the front desk, which is a nice touch for travelers, and the front desk staff were super friendly! P.S. The restaurant is fantastic too!

Stayed at this hotel again. The room design is tasteful, and there's a free sauna available for private use, though it requires a reservation. Fresh, complimentary milk is also provided in the evenings. My favorite part is the hotel's 2-Michelin-starred restaurant, which serves exceptional dinner. Downsides: 1. Breakfast is à la carte and a bit simple. 2. There's no elevator, so carrying luggage up to the second floor is quite tiring. 3. The room doesn't offer a direct lake view. 4. I checked in late, and the front desk staff on duty promised a late checkout until 11:30 AM, but didn't pass on this information to the morning shift, leading to a misunderstanding.

Free parking: Plenty of parking spaces available almost every day. Facilities: All facilities are new. Cleanliness: Spotlessly clean, the room is neat and tidy, the bathroom has no strange smells, and it's thoroughly cleaned. Environment: The environment is excellent, just a 10-minute drive from the city center. Service: The staff are very friendly and the service is extremely attentive.

The room decor had a lot of local character, but the facilities were quite old. The breakfast, however, was excellent.

The hotel is not far from the lake, about 3 to 4 kilometers from Queenstown. You can get there by bus or on foot. There are no supermarkets or Chinese restaurants next to the hotel, so for Chinese food and shopping, you'll need to go to Queenstown, a few kilometers away. The hotel rooms are clean and tidy, and it's quiet at night, which is great for sleeping.
