Beautiful building on a beautiful property. Staff (and island residents) were universally friendly and helpful. The rooms were large and airy with a view from every window. The island can be explored by rental bike, kayak or with your own car. We would definitely recommend and return!

We went to raasay house hotel for a meal to celebrate a special birthday. The staff were very friendly and polite. We had starters which were fine soup with bread. The problem was the main course we chose the fish which was battered haddock when this arrived it looked burnt or overcooked and batter was dark brown, the chef should never have sent this out from kitchen. We thought we should try fish but it was worse than it looked, we mentioned this to waitress who took food away and she said she would tell someone. Never heard anymore was charged full price for food not edible as this was a special occasion we just paid and left. We do not recommend eating at raasay house hotel.

We only used the café (twice). It's small, with enough seats for around 20 people. I had an Americano, delicious. Then there are the cakes and buns. Yummy! Prices, I would say are reasonable. On our second visit I was taken to see the houses library. Wow it was a gorgeous old library, had that 'smell' of old books and leather chairs. Unsure, if it is only for the house's residents. Look out for 'Ted' sitting on the chair

On a very wet day in May I got the ferry over from Sconser. I had a bit of a wait in the ferryport waiting room, but it was warm and dry, toilets fine. Weather so bleak I took advantage of the offer of transport to the hotel included with my room rate. If weather better I would have walked but with a heavy rucksack and dodgy ankle, no way! The 4om check in is strict but they allowed me to leave my rucksack and bag at reception. I had a coffee and cake in the cafe, and chatted with a German lady who I met on the ferry. As the weather wasn't letting up we decided to explore the walled garden behind the hotel. Beautiful!! Composting toilet a good feature! I then looked around the old churchyard, fascinating. Check in time beckoned, great guy on reception, very wekcomingI got a free upgrade so a double room at the back overlooking the garden😁 Unfortunately large group of children on outwards bound course doing laps around the hotel, very noisy and disturbing, tge otherwise peace! This went on for hours😬Perhaps they should have been encouraged to go around the back with other guests paying (a substantial rate) for rest and relaxation. I went down for my meal I booked, being served in the bar. Good atmosphere but really loud and obnoxious drunk hipster claiming to be mayor of Raasay was really loud and annoying. I would book again maybe, this was a big treat to myself, unfortunately not as relaxing and quiet as I had hoped for , perhaps ask for room at front!

We spent a refreshing and comfortable two nights at the Raasay House. We happened to arrive without a reservation and outside of front desk hours, and yet we were still made to feel welcome and offered an affordable room. The room was cozy, clean, and quiet. On our second night, we dined at the restaurant and found the food fresh and delicious! The staff was friendly, and Freya and David went out of their way to accommodate us and our time on the island. We hope someday to return!

As frequent travelers to the Scottish Highland, we absolutely loved discovering the island of Raasay for the first time. The hotel is a very beautiful house, and our room, the balcony suite facing towards Sky, was amazing (what a view...!). We did enjoy spending some time in the hotel, and also visiting the distillery (which is an absolute must, as well), and talking a walk up to Temptation Hill, and also a drive to reach Calum road (💙). Yes, it is needed to catch a ferry to reach the island, which wasn't a problem at all. All in all, we had an incredible experience. Thank you so much!

I have stayed at the hotel and now visited the cafe. The food is at best mediocre. There is a general lack of care. It is unforgivable to fail to deliver good fish and chips and mussels on a Scottish island. I may stay at the hotel again but will eat at the Distillery in future.

Our family of four had a wonderful stay at Raasay House for my wife's 40th birthday. It is nestled in a truly idyllic location, with outstanding views of the Skye Cullins. The staff could not be more welcoming or friendly and we felt like we were treated like royalty. We were fortunate to stay in the Room 1 family suite, which was very spacious and had stunning sea views of Skye from the balcony and access to private lounge. The food was first class, and we loved our breakfasts and evening meals. Due to it being the at the end of September the menu was reduced, but the restaurant were very accommodating and did their best to satisfy. The Raasay Distillery is certainly worth a visit, and is just 5min walk from Raasay House. We also enjoyed driving along Calum's Road and reading the story behind it. The highest point in Raasay is Dun Caan and is absolutely worth the hike, as it offers spectacular 360 degree panoramic views. Our highlight of the trip was the sunset wildlife rib trip around the Raasay waters with David the skipper. He brought the trip to life with his many stories and observations. We saw dolphins, porpoises, seals, seabirds and sea eagles. We were only on Raasay for 2 nights so certainly plan to return.
