If you want a peaceful serene and quiet place to switch off, do some yoga and meditate then this is the place for you. Elke was very welcoming and friendly and very knowledgeable about yoga and healing therapies. The house is beautiful with lovely courtyard in the centre and rooms on top floor all around, most with balconies but some quiet open spaces to sit and read. Rooms were comfortable and typical Sri Lankan wooden furniture for beds, wardrobes etc. We did Yin, Hatha and Aerial yoga sessions with Elke which are charged additionally and early morning meditation is free. Aerial yoga was an exhilarating experience and a must try as Elke is very patient and very safe teacher. I also did some EFT - tapping sessions with her which was very helpful. The staff are all lovely as they are part of the family and Prasad who took care of all our needs was amazing, so kind and patient. Food can be ordered A la Carte or can pay $18 for selected meals and some hot drinks included. We had authentic Sri Lankan curries a few nights which were very tasty and delicious. It’s a good place to unwind and rest and the options to choose to do the yoga practices and meditation is great. Location is very good, only about 15 minutes to Galle by Tuk Tuk and couple of hours from Colombo.

Niyagama House is by far the most beautiful and peaceful retreat we've ever visited. We were thrilled to return for the fourth time. Practicing yoga with Elke is always a highlight—she has an extensive knowledge of yoga and leads inspiring classes, but what truly sets her apart is her sweetness, humility, and wonderful sense of humor. Elke is the perfect hostess. The shalas are the most beautiful spaces we've ever practiced in, and the house, with its stunning architecture, is impeccably clean. The pool and pool area are top-notch, and the food is absolutely delicious. A walk through the lush garden, surrounded by a variety of plants, birds, and monkeys, only adds to the sense of tranquility. Niyagama House is the ideal place to find peace of mind, calm, and balance. We're already looking forward to our next visit!

I had an amazing time at Niyagama House! I spent 3 days there at the end of my Sri Lanka trip. I spent my time doing great yoga classes (hatha and aerial), chilling by the pool, staring at the trees from my balcony (that were filled with cute black monkeys and hornbills), and got an amazing massage. Would definitely recommend

It was a last stop in our round trip in SriLanka. During our trip we stayed in many hotels (on 5* star) but in Niyagamahouse we felt like 6 or more stars :) Clean, amazing hospidality, food was excellent, rooms and treatments were perfect. We were like in the middle of jungle surrounded by different sounds from nature. Everyhting was in balance. We felt like in heaven and really looking forward to be back in NiyagamaHouse.

Completely Overhyped — Regret Booking This Place I rarely leave bad reviews, but I feel compelled to warn others about Niyagama House. What was marketed as a peaceful luxury retreat turned out to be one of the most disappointing experiences I’ve ever had in Sri Lanka. The location is extremely remote and hard to access. Once you’re there, you’re basically stuck — no nearby restaurants, shops, or transport options unless you pay a premium. The so-called luxury room was outdated, poorly ventilated, and far from the “boutique comfort” they promote. The bed was stiff, the bathroom smelled damp, and basic amenities like Wi-Fi and hot water were unreliable at best. Staff interactions felt robotic. There was no warmth or effort to make us feel welcome. Every request felt like a bother to them. The food? Uninspired, repetitive, and definitely not worth the price. You’re charged like it’s fine dining but served like it’s a low-effort hostel kitchen. We chose this place for the yoga and spa offerings — but again, total letdown. Yoga sessions were generic and rushed, with no personalization or guidance. The massage felt like someone just going through the motions — zero sense of professionalism or serenity. What could have been a tranquil, wellness-focused stay turned into a frustrating, isolating experience. We checked out feeling more drained than when we arrived. I wouldn’t recommend Niyagama House to anyone looking for value, comfort, or authentic hospitality. There are far better options in and around Galle.

Property was not operating right now. It was a waste of our time and destroy our all the holiday plans. Verry dissapointed about the wrong details on booking engines abouth that property. Un acceptable plce and. We cant imagine why people are put wrong reviews on that place.

A luxurious and beautifully designed manor style retreat nestled within a tea plantation and jungle treetops. We were well looked after and everything about this estate and the rooms has been well thought out and catered for. Close to Galle, and very close to nature.

This place was amazing. There is no where like it. There is so much care, thought and love put into every small tiny detail. Owned, designed, built and run by a family of passionate and kind people who went above and beyond to make our experience comfortable and memorable. And on top of that it is a beautiful luxury accommodation set amongst nature. Our room overlooked a panorama of jungle. There were monkeys in the trees 10 meters from us. So many birds during the day and fireflies at night. And the pool. It was impossible to get out. Highly recommend this unique way of experiencing Sri Lanka
