Hotel Villa Cimbrone

Gotta double check everything - broke our trust. It was an amazing stay up to the point we left. Great staff, food, rooms are terrific. All the things. When it came time to leave we were assured to leave our bags in the rooms and they said - don’t worry we will get it back to your bus. My wife was concerned that they mixed the bags with another family but - we trusted the process with their ticketing system. There was a bag we did not recognize in our lot and flagged it. They took that bag away. They did all the loading up. So - of course - they lost one of our bags. They denied any fault and put the blame on us. 3 hours and 150 euro later the bag was back. And yep - for a short trip - dealing with this was terrible and angering. It could have been better if the manager was more sympathetic. Instead all the blame was on us. He said “we never make mistakes with bags” and believe me - if we had thought we were at fault we would have owned up. But whenever I hear the phrase “we never make mistakes on …” I think of a fragile house of cards where staff are encouraged to lie to protect their own mistakes vs lose their jobs over “making the first mistake”. That’s what I think of. I also see the other negative comments and see how their tendency is to put the blame onto the guests (after a typical ‘thank you we take your comments seriously’ non-comment) rather than see the growing problem that they have. To the manager - yep - the way that you handled and escalated the situation got me angry in the moment . I’m very sorry about that and offer sincere apologies to you about what I said about the situation and what you should do to your mother as a result. I’m glad I got to practice my Italian but it was insensitive. Please be well. Mir.

Elegant hotel in a fabulous setting and a courteous and helpful staff that was both gracious and kind. One of the very best hotel experiences I have ever had

Our friend and tour guide recommended this hotel, we will tell her to discontinue service here. It was 80 degrees in our room, AC not working. Tried try to improve conditions by leaving room door and window open for a cross breeze, but total loss of privacy and security that way. Cant comfortably sleep. If I leave the window open, a band is playing... and it's nidnight. Awful. Shelf for clothing storage is covered with dust, who would put clothes there? Very specifically set up room reservation with Marco for a sea window view, upon check in, they tried to give us a room with the view blocked by tall balcony wall. Very disappointing beginning to our stay, I recommend staying elsewhere.

The restaurant (and hotel) is tucked away from the Villa Cimbrone Gardens-- which are exquisite. The walk to the gardens and hotel is well worth the many steps to get there (not recommend walking for the disabled). Our lunch was great--expensive but worth the price. My wife and I recommend walking through the gardens first but either way it's a wonderful and stunning place. Based on our service, I will stay at the hotel if I ever get the chance to visit Ravello.

Wow. Villa Cimbrone is the most beautiful hotel and gardens that we have ever stayed at. It was like a dream. We stayed in the Greta Garbo suite and it was gorgeous. Our daughters stayed in another suite and it was a little unusual because they had to go up a swirling staircase to get to room. But the staff was so friendly and helpful. I will never forget our time at Villa Cimbrone.

Although the room and gardens are amazing, the service is not to standard. With so many great places on offer in the area, don’t waste your money or time staying here and go where you also have great service! If you like this Villa, just pay and visit the gardens. We are in a top tier room and can’t even manage a reservation at the restaurant!! Never have I received such terrible service from any hotel, let alone a highly rated one. Would not recommend and won’t be back.

This hotel, its grounds, and its views are absolutely gorgeous. We paid for and were excited for what we thought would be a much-needed quiet, private, romantic escape that did NOT happen. The hotel is a British and US wedding destination hotel now and we learned from staff (although the front desk denied) they have 90 weddings in 92 days this summer. There were 4 weddings on property during our 3-day stay and the noise each night was awful! I called the front desk the 1st night, exhausted from international travel, and were disappointed to learn all weddings each night are allowed to party until midnight. The receptions are on the lawn below the rooms with loud bands, DJ's, and singing/hooting guests, some with light displays, that can be heard and seen from great distances - no chance of not being impacted by these! We stayed in suite 25 which had a broken toilet seat, clogged shower drain that overflows with each shower, and squeaky bathroom door. The bathroom quickly flooded during the 1st shower and we called the front desk who said a plumber would be right up that morning and they would call when fixed. Never happened - at 6pm we went to front desk and said couldn't shower until plumber fixes and they sent someone up who faked a repair, but did nothing. We learned after the shower has been clogged for years (see past trip advisor reviews about room 25) and I'm guessing it's still not fixed today. During the day, many wedding guests were loud, some obnoxious, several in bachelor/bachelorette party mode. The next day is a new batch of these. That's cool, happy for everyone to have a turn at this, but I believe the hotel has an obligation to let potential guest know what kind of environment you're heading into. We felt like and may have been the only guests there not affiliated with a wedding. If loud wedding music until midnight each night and a bunch of hung over and partying it up wedding guests are what you're looking for - this is your place. We have stayed at many 5 star resorts in Europe and in Italy and this is not a 5 star hotel. We were at the pool one afternoon for over 2 hours and were told drinks and food would be offered but the staff never made it all the way around the pool to service the few people there even one time.At check out when we shared our issues with the front desk (again) they offered absolutely nothing except we that we should come in May or October when its not so crazy (it WAS may and wedding season was in full swing) Hope these details help future potential guests know what to expect - traveler beware! We would never have chosen this hotel for the typeof experience we were hoping for had we known about the noise and poor care of rooms. This hotel needs to update their website to let people know this has become a turnover hotel for weddings.

We booked in advance to stay 6 nights at Villa Cimbrone to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary and were extremely disappointed with the level of service from the moment of arrival until our departure – this should have a been a memorable and Happy occasion. The staff treated us as if we were an interruption to their work (not the reason for them having a job in the first place) and were most condescending whenever we approached them. The Breakfast Buffet was mediocre for a Hotel claiming to be of such high quality and the Hot Breakfast was served very haphazardly. Due to a family emergency we had to return home 3 nights early and no empathy, nor reimbursement for the extra night (7) we had paid for on arrival at the Hotel was made and the Management did not respond to our request until 14 days after we had contacted them – Customer Service is obviously not their priority. We don’t object to paying high prices for accommodation but expect 5 Star service in return and sadly this is not the case at Villa Cimbrone! Don’t waste your money!
