Redondo Pier Inn

Redondo Pier Inn

Redondo Beach|1.08km from city centre
Check in was fine, some staff were nicer and more responsive than others throughout our 3 night stay though. Room was actually nice looking and very clean (including the matress and covers comparing it to some of the other reviews and we had no real issues at all with it. Room has decent lighting options and a dimmer switch for the main lights, USB and one outlet between beds, but behind the table was another outlet. There are amenities, but they aren't by the sink and instead located in the bathtub on the wall behind the shower curtain, so it's kind of easy to miss and think there isn't any shampoo or soap for the shower when you first arrive and haven't used the shower/tub yet. Bathroom lighting is a bit dim though. The room had a very large empty area near the TV that could have had more chairs and a larger table provided. The walls were kind of barren in spots and more paintings would have made it a little nicer. There were a few paintings, but some walls were completely bare making it look kind of awkward. I didn't get a chance to check out the pool at all. Ice machines are located on the bottom floor stairwell at the back. Parking had open parking or first come first serve covered parking (which could be a little tight to get into), but it was nice to have that offered. Location is right on the 1 so at times making a left turn out or making a left turn to get into the hotel might be a little hard depending on the time of day. There isn't much on the 1 around here in terms of restaurants, but 2 blocks is the Redondo Beach Pier that has a lot of food options as it's not a standard signle straight peir. The prices there are actually a lot cheaper than I was expecting for ocean side food. Hotel price was really good, compared to most other areas in the greater Los Angeles area as well. Will most likely end up back here next time I come back...

Quality Inn & Suites Hermosa Beach

Hermosa Beach|2.13km from Perry Park
We wanted to spend a few days at the beach so we stayed here in August 2022. This was a good place to stay and gave us what we wanted. Their are other hotels closer to or on the beach but they were much more expensive. The pier is about a fifteen minute walk. We had a clean room that wasn't too small, a shower with enough hot water, a small fridge in the room, and air conditioning. The A/C is an older style unit and somewhat noisy. We ended up running it during the day to get the room cool and then turning it off at nite and that worked out fine for us. As of our stay they still didn't have hot waffles at breakfast or any other hot food but they did have coffee, canned fruit juices, cereal, packaged pastries. Here's a tip -- right next door is the Ocean Diner which is a favorite with locals and serves a hot breakfast (the Morning Glory muffin is breakfast in itself). You owe it to yourself to try them at least once. Maid service was on request only, but you can change towels at the front desk anytime and you just leave the old ones outside the door in the morning. The desk staff was friendly. Right next door is a large Trader Joes and a shopping center with a supermarket and drugstore is about a five minute walk. We caught Jay Leno at the Comedy Club near the pier and loved the show. He often plays there Sunday evenings. It sells out so book two weeks or so ahead. Since this is LA you'll need transportation unless you just want to stay in the immediate area. A car is useful if you're going to Santa Monica or other more distant locations, but for shorter trips such as to Manhattan Beach it's better to take Uber; we did even though we had our car and avoided the hassle of trying to park, and it's under $10 for shorter trips.

We checked in to the Hampton Inn on March 11, 2023 for a two night stay. I know that every stay or experience can’t always be perfect, and I know some things are beyond the control of the management or staff. However I think there’s a problem at the Hampton Inn Hermosa Beach that might have something to do with the management. First of all they have signs all over the building that say “Making You Happy Makes Us Happy“ and “Enter the Happy Zone” however, I can honestly say I never saw one staff member smile. Not the maids, the kitchen staff, the front desk personnel, or the man I assumed was the manager. I made a point of watching for a smile the second day after seeing the signs. I never spoke to the manager. He didn’t look approachable. I understand we couldn’t count on a specific room but why couldn’t we at least request one? We were told if we called back the morning of our reservation we could do it at that time if such a room was available. When we did so, we were told all the rooms were assigned the day before by the manager. Now, that aside, I must mention that the top of the vending and ice machines on the third floors are disgusting! In room 302 The doors to the toilet and clothes closet don’t open without one being adjusted out of the way. The heater which sits right next to the bed blows cold air directly at the person sleeping next to it every time it comes on. We didn’t get maid service. We noticed there was no “Maid Service Requested” door hanger and called the desk to report it and we were told, “Just make sure you don’t put the ‘Do Not Disturb’ hanger on the outside of the door and the maids will clean your room.” It didn’t happen and so I was told to come down to the front desk if I wanted a washcloth and towel. Finally, the breakfast the first morning we were there consisted of among other things what looked like over-stirred powdered imitation eggs, undercooked sausage links, and bananas that almost two weeks later might still not be ripe. I think I’ll avoid staying at Hampton Inns in the future. I felt like it wasn’t worth the money.

Best Western Plus Redondo Beach Inn

This motel is clean, close to our kids and grandkids, so we often stay there. People are friendly. It is not quiet--you either must contend with the noise coming from Pacific Coast Highway, or the equally noisy AC unit. Overall, I clean, convenient, no frills place to stay.

This hotel offers a bad service, does not have enough staff to keep clean and operational the hotel should be closed until they have the ability to operate it Despite their policies, they do not clean the room, change towels or Sabanas
Moonlite Inn

This looks like one of those shady motels where vagrants may stay...and maybe it is. But it’s not that bad, and I actually enjoyed my stay here, especially for the location and the price. It’s a 5-min walk to beautiful Redondo Beach, where you can walk along the strand or lounge on the sand. You can also walk 20 min north to the Redondo Pier or south to Riviera Village. There’s also a Trader Joe’s nearby, and various other restaurants and retail stores. The rooms are nothing special, but the beds are comfortable, there’s a fridge/microwave, and they have wi-fi and DirecTV. Hotels in this area are expensive - Moonlite Inn is a good value and a good location.
