The staff is very kind and forthcoming. We stayed a whole week on a family vacation, and also ate at the restaurant a couple of times. Regardless of when we ran into them, they were always nice and eager to help. The furniture in the rooms is somewhat old-fashioned, but the rooms are large and despite the fact that we booked single rooms, we still got king sized beds, perhaps because the hotel wasn’t fully booked. The beds seemed hard, but I slept wonderfully. The bathrooms are small, but clean and functional with tiled floor and walls. We had to pay extra for breakfast, but found this to be worth it since we got an offering of breads, meat, cheese, eggs, croissants, jams etc. In the village, you’ll find an ATM, a gas station with a small store, a baker, a butcher, a couple of restaurants and most importantly a bus taking you to the city nearby, Bensheim, which has a very picturesque city center. The hotel is situated in the Odenwald, a very beautiful and hilly part of the country which invites to biking, hiking and general sightseeing. There are many smaller towns in the area as well as the larger city, Darmstadt. The hotel owners also run a restaurant, open most days a week. Their specialty is Hungarian food, but they also serve regular German-style food. The portions were large and the food was good.
