The hotel reception is very good! Because I read the comments and introduction, I know that there will be bunks! So in advance and Ctrip said that there are people who do not arrange for the elderly. The reply is no bunk! Do not worry! But go to the hotel front desk and say that there is no request, and the hotel is full, if you ask in advance, you can do not arrange. Although Ctrip finally apologized for the compensation, the overall booking was not good! Then the hotel front desk showed me another room without a bunk bed! Say if you remember to remember again next time! The front desk also introduced a lot of local conditions to us! Cook for three nights, one day under super heavy snow

I stayed with my girlfriend in this small hotel in lovely Reine in August. We were pleasantly surprised by how nice the place is: starting with morning yoga, good self-catering facilities and a bright room facing out to sea. The actual stay was great. However, I left some clothes behind by mistake and have now spent a month trying to get the hotel to send them back to me. It's a series of unanswered mails, messages and calls. This reminds me that when we were going there we also had the experience of not getting replies to our messages. I don't know how a tourist facility can function with such poor communications. Its just a shame that the time there is now a bit spoilt.

The Eliassen Rorbuer should be a mandatory stop for anyone who wants to experience the most fabulous lodging and views available in the Lofoten Islands. This hotel is constituted from an historic Norwegian fishing village, with individual and well-appointed cabins for guests, many of which cabins face out directly onto the spectacular harbor and towering mountains near the town of Reine. The cabin rooms are spacious and immaculate, with separate bedrooms and sitting rooms where you can luxuriate in the incredible scenery right outside your door. The village includes a top-flight restaurant (Gadus) with delicious included breakfasts as well as dinner if you so choose. The staff is warm and friendly, and there is even a washer-dryer right on premises for use by the hotel’s guests. Best of all, the location is perfect, within a short drive of truly amazing hikes like Reinebringen and Ryten Mountain/Kvalvika Beach. The hardest part of our whole trip to Norway was having to leave this very special place!

Considering that Norway is the most expensive country in Europe and that the breathtaking scenery and quaint fishing villages of Lofoten make it the country’s #1 tourist destination, the high price of the converted fisherman’s cabins here is pretty average. The cabins are refurbished to modern standard but are somewhat spartan. Mine had a stove-top but no oven, not even a microwave or a toaster, and the lack of a dish-rack meant that you had to use the dishwasher at least once a day or else improvise. The bathroom was similarly minimal. The bed was comfortable but not properly balanced, so the upper mattress kept on slipping off one side of the bed overnight! I had to park the car on the clifftop and walk the final 50 m to the cabin (which was 800 m from the reception). But these are minor issues: the setting is fabulous in all weathers (and staying a week meant I did see the harbour, village and mountains in brilliant sunshine, torrential rain, swirling fog and eerie stillness). Self-catering is a good option in a country where restaurant meals are exorbitant, and the traditional rorbuer on the water’s edge are definitely the place to stay. The environment is peaceful, the staff friendly and efficient, wifi excellent and everything clean and functional.

I stayed in this hotel during a single trip and I must say that it fascinated me for the colors, the atmosphere and the landscape. The hotel has a restaurant where I have eaten very well. For those traveling by car to the discovery of the Lofoten Island, it is easy to find a parking place. The only point, and on this I would advise to fix, is that, at least in the room where I sleeped (at the first floor of the building where there is also a restaurant, faced on the inside) the tent was too ”light”. to contain the light of the ”no night” of the northern summer ... so it was not easy to sleep. For the rest of the very kind personal and atmosphere that recompenses every possible effort, moreover, as said, in the restaurant where I appreciated the quality of the prepared meals. If I had to advise a friend I would certainly do it.

We were a group of four traveling in December. We stayed in a cabin overlooking the water. Two rooms had huge beds, while the third ”room” was really an attic with slanted walls and four single mattresses on the floor. This was not what we expected and the cabins do seem to vary, so don't depend entirely on the photos you see. Our cabin was beyond a very steep hill, slightly far from the main area. This made it quieter, but also was less convenient. To our surprise our cabin had a washer/drier. We had contacted the resort in advance inquiring about laundry, and they told us there would not be any facilities. There was also a gas fireplace, but no instructions on how to use it, so we had to figure that out on our own. SAUNA: The spa treatments were fully booked in advance, so we were not able to enjoy any of them, and the snow and rain was so intense that we skipped the outdoor sauna. FOOD: We tried all three restaurants: one only serves pizza, one is a cafe, and one is a proper restaurant. All were good, but the restaurant was expensive. We loved the free breakfast – many options and vegetarian friendly. We wished we had brought our own food and more medicine. Some of us caught colds and they didn't sell any meds on premise. We also didn't know our cabin would be stocked with some alcohol and snacks, but we skipped these to avoid high prices. WEATHER: At times the weather was so severe that we couldn't even drive to the store 15-20 minutes away to get food or medicine (some of us got sick). We were also surprised that the resort did not sprinkle very much gravel or salt on the icy roads and walkways. Many of us were slipping around and falling on the black ice. EXCURSION: We had booked the RIB safari tour. There wasn't much information about this, but they give you a full waterproof body suit to wear over your clothing, along with boots and goggles if you want them. The waves were a bit dangerous, so our tour was cut short. We were told it's be about 1.5 hrs, but it was only about 30-40 minutes. No partial refund was provided. We did, however see eagles, so that was cool. AURORA: On our third day, the skies cleared and we had a wonderful northern lights sighting, so it was all worth it. It lasted a couple hours and we felt very lucky.

The Lofoten Cottages are located in one of the most beautiful and peaceful (not touristy) parts of the Lofoten Islands and the the islands themselves are really really beautiful, so this is saying something. The cottages are basic but provide everything needed, the food and service was good and Nusfjord is is ideally located in the middle of the islands which makes it a good base for exploring.

We stayed here last week. We booked for 2 nights but left after one. It's a basic hostel, rather than the ”Rorbuer” it is advertised as on ***********. It's quite scrappy outside with a dark interior (I guess the lights were switched off to save energy?) But it was clean enough. We had a twin room, which was large and tidy. But it was next to one of the two kitchens. The night we stayed, the hostel was very busy with a large groups of friends occupying each of the kitchens. They took over every table and worksurface and were preparing extensive meals using most of the utensils. So there was nowhere for us to prepare our dinner or even to sit down. When we entered either kitchen we were met with stares of surprise that we had trespassed into their ”space” and one woman even told my wife not to use the last remaining saucepan as they needed it for their cooking. The second group simply shut the kitchen door as a sign that this was their ”space”. So much for ”communal spirit”! They occupied both kitchens from 5 pm to 10 pm so we had to go out for dinner and buy from an expensive (though tasty) food van nearby. It was hard to sit in our bedroom as there was constant noise from the kitchen next door and the walls were very thin. I had to read my book with my earplugs in for 2 hours. By 10:15 pm people had left the kitchen and we could breathe a sigh of relief. There was an unused bar area outside where we were able to eat our van food, but nowhere inside to escape from the noise. After one night of this we didn't want to risk a second night, so explained our concerns to the manager and left the next morning. On reflection, I guess we were unlucky to be at Lydersen at a busy time when two large groups had decided to take over the hostel (though this may be a common occurrence in the summer?) The hostel is basic, and the walls very thin, and there are not enough utensils to cope with busy times in the kitchens. It would be great to have a lounge where people can escape when the kitchens are full. The location is good, so my advice would be to go in expecting the worse and you may be lucky to find it quiet or at least occupied by smaller groups/individuals who don't think they own the place.
