Super bad experience booking this Elan Hotel. Don't recommend this Hotel. We lost Over £250 booking this hotel on December 2025. There was a storm the first week of december that the uk government asked us not to go out because of possible natural disasters which did happen and this hotel did not allow us to change the date of the reservation and much less refund our money, they really do not care about offering a good service and much less do they care about the life and well being of their clients.

This is a very caring hotel. My son was taken ill, and the staff were outstanding in their care until I arrived the next day to look after him. As to the hotel itself, it was well-priced and very quiet. I would certainly stay there under normal circumstances.

During a storm on December 7 in Wales, we were forced to cancel our trip due to government warnings. The hotel refused to reschedule or refund over £250, and their customer service was rude and unsupportive. We lost all the money and the holyday . Do not book here.

The hotel refused to reschedule or refund over £250, and their customer service was rude and unsupportive. They deserve 1 star rating and I suggest do not book here. It was My elderly mother-in-law booked this hotel without proper research and read all the bad reviews about this hotel in Wales.

Never got to the hotel! Weather forecast for the weekend 7th and 8th December is 90 mph high winds, rain and Met Office issued a red weather warning and advised people to stay in. My party included my 89 year old Mum, 6 year grand-daughter and pregnant daughter in law and it was felt it was too risky travelling all the way from Bristol in appalling weather. Asked the hotel if we could change the dates and explained the situation but they were not prepared to change the dates. We’d already paid £250 so we lost all the money!!! We didn’t want to cancel we just wanted to change the dates and the hotel were intransigent which I could not understand as it really would have made no difference to them! So when I rebook to go to Rhayadar I will not be booking with them!

A friend and myself visited for the first time for lunch, we both had soup. There was only one soup on offer but we decided to order and pay the £5:50 price each. When the soup arrived to looked very unappetising. It was supposed to be potato and leek, what we were given was a bowl of green hot water. We expected the soup to be home made, when in fact it was a powder mixed with hot water. It was tasteless, and disgusting at the same time. It was the most expensive soup we ever had and most definitely the worst.

We are staying here in Rhayader in wales for trip from Essex this has got to be the worst three lamb curries I’ve ever had absolutely tastless ! When asked at the end how was it we was honest and said the chef needs to taste the food before sent out.

Stayed here for 4 nights in July, was the busiest season for them, and TOTALLY LOVED our stay, the food, especially home made curries were amazingly delicious. The bar staff were very kind and attentive throughout and the cleaning ladies were excellent too, breakfast was amazing only downside would be the car park entrance is a little narrow, wonderful owners, overall a very pleasant stay and beautiful experience.
