Karpathios Studios

The room was basic but had a lovely balcony and view over the sea. The pool and bar area were lovely and the staff were welcoming. Plenty of sunbeds and a pool that was big enough to have a swim in. However, everything in the room looked and felt tired- in particular the bathroom suite . This must have been 15 years old at least and had a toilet seat that looked as if it had been used by 100s of people before us. The shower was fine though - old but worked well. The studios were at the top of the village and the road to them was short but steep - a good cardio workout every night !!

So after my marriage of 30 years broke down I decided I needed a holiday so booked a week away in Greece booked these apartments as it was small didn’t want anything else for a week away to relax and re charge and that is just what I got The pool is lovely, cold this time of year but still got in for a swim. My room had just been re decorated and it was lovely Very basic but did me. I booked B & B which again is basis but you have only a couple of choices toast and jam, ham toastie or scrambled egg and toast but that suited me as I’m not a big breakfast eater but the road with the bars and restaurants are 50 meters across the road but the hotel do a nice lunch time menu burgers wraps full English breakfast sandwich all lovely and ok prices, beer is lovely comes in them frozen glasses and as they are plastics you can take them to your subbed Always plenty of sunbeds round the pool but not sure if that’s because it’s May. You do have to buy the aircon and the safety deposit boxes Aircon is 10€ a night Safety boxes 5€ a night I didn’t bother with any as the night times were nice and cool but they will be needed in the summer months as there’s no mosquito nets on the windows for some reason so you can’t leave them open at night The view is amazing I’m on the top floor you can see for miles and miles as it’s up high on the hill L. So let’s mention the drive way up to the apartments It’s a killer I’m not gonna lie I thought I was fit till I arrived here and was dropped off with my case at the bottom of the drive and had to get up it so if you have mobility problems this will be an issues them to most apartments is a flight or 2 of steps but it won’t put me off coming back again nice and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of town but only 50 meters away Great apartments thanks for a relaxing stay

We arrived at 1am in the morning in 33° heat with no air con because we were directed straight to our room (No 7) with no check in at reception. We realised after a while that the catch was missing to close the bathroom window to prevent mosquitos from entering our room and despite our efforts to stop it the window kept on blowing open. Also both the doors to the studio are too small for their frames and so knock about in the wind so loudly we had to rest chairs against them. So after a very sleepless night we reported the problem of the window to the manager who made a note but did not really seem interested despite the fact that Rhodes had West Nile virus mosquitos last year. So I mentioned it to the Jet2 rep who seemed very keen to sort it(took photos and every thing), and having spoken to the manager persuaded us to remain in the room as they were going to tempararily fix it shut and then repair it tomorrow. But despite her best efforts and my personally showing the problem to the maintenance man on day 3 it still wasn`t fixed on day 6. So we asked the rep not to bother with it any more as my clever wife had come up with her own solution (which was better than the Gaffa tape they had used on the room next door) and we were fed up of expecting someone to turn up at our door any minute. Whilst all this was going on after paying 130 euros the air con didn`t work and I had to waste 1/2 an hour of my time sorting that out and we also noticed a list of things that were faulty or not safe. 1.There is a pipe sticking out of the bottom of the balcony door. 2. the catch worked but not the bolt had been painted shut on both doors. I managed to fix 1 but not the other myself ( I should send them a bill). 3. Both sides of the balcony table leg have rotted and look extremely dangerous. Had to turn it to the wall and put a chair in front of it. 4. The hose put pipe for the gardens is next to the steps to our room and was constantly being left across them sometimes still there when it was dark. 5. There is no handle on the outside of the balcony door so if you forget the key and the door closes behind you then you are locked out on the balcony. Not good when it is a 42° heatwave and no shade. 6. A final note on safety be careful on the rotten bridge railing on the bridge over the pool (see photo its a classic ) 7. Ive hopefully added some photos of the safety concerns and the sort of things you would expect to be wrong in a 2 star studio like the fire alarm being above the toaster and going off every morning, the leak in the bathroom etc. I did give the studios 2 stars for the nice pool, spacious room and nice view over Pefkos.

Another fantastic holiday here, this is mine and my friends third time on the trot going to Karpathios Studios in September, and it’s just perfect! The staff are all so friendly, the pool is always so quiet and the local area is so perfect for great food and drinks. People do need to remember when they book the cheapest hotel on jet2 they can’t expect 5 stars! But if you’re looking for somewhere peaceful, quiet with a fantastic view then this is your place! Know the bar staff well we even joined them for a night out, we had a sit down meal with the chef and his family, just such a lovely atmosphere with staff that are happy to help in anyway they can. Will be back again 2025.

Nice place with a great uncrowded pool and friendly staff, only problems we had was that at times it can be quite noisy, the main road is just below and the house echoes up the apartments and the walls are quite thin, the bedrooms could also do with wardrobes.

The room states air-conditioned but did not have any functioning air-conditioning (Average Night Temperature of ~30C). Breakfast was not provided, despite being paid for as part of the package. Chronic ant and cockroach problem in the rooms, suffered numerous ant/insect bites from insects that entered the room through the cracked walls, windows and doors. Staff were generally rude. Location was very good at least.
