We stayed at hotel villa medici while visiting family to celebrate a wedding. We had fond memories of the hotel from a previous stay however we ended up very disappointed. The rooms were clean however the beds were uncomfortable with limited space to keep our luggage. We only stayed 3 nights (one of the days we were at the wedding and the other two we planned on staying by the pool and enjoying the sun which was the reason for the choice of this particular hotel). One day we were told there were no life guards from 1-3pm so we couldn’t use the pool and the other day we were told to leave the outside space completely as they had a function on for a wedding they were accommodating. We had paid for the facilities, however were told we weren’t allowed to use them. The indoor pool was also closed as they said it was only opened from September during the winter period, however this as well as the lack of lifeguard and the fact there was a wedding on so we couldn’t use the facilities was not communicated and not evident anywhere on the website. The receptionist was rude and very abrupt and when we asked to speak to the manager to resolve the issues he said he was busy and refused to show face. We waited around for him for 2 hours one day and 1 on the other day and although he was supposed to be there he hid away and let the receptionist deal with the matter at hand, to which she had no power over. The customer service here was very poor and we felt very let down and unwelcome. Between us we had 4 younger children who we had to find other entertainment for and we practically kicked out. only to be allowed in our rooms. If we had just wanted a place to sleep we would’ve booked elsewhere that was cheaper and more hospitable. We shall not be coming here again, although they offered us a stay for 2 people for one night we couldn’t accept that as compensation for a sour end to our lovely holiday, travelling all the way from England, baring in mind there were 9 of us in total. False advertising, bad customer service and a manager who hid away.
