Finally, after 5 years of frankly mediocre food and service (at best), the Royal Foresters has gained a new manager/chef and a new team who give every indication to be working hard to provide a step change improvement. Our family has eaten there twice in the last week and on both occasions both food and service have been much improved. As this is our local pub, we look forward to going regularly again. Keep up the good work !

Sadly our experience was the same as the previous customer. Having eaten at the pub before we anticipated high standards of cuisine. We obtained menus for both Christmas Day & Boxing Day in November and booked for both days (for 14 members of family, 7 on each day) at £90 and £35 respectively. I rang three days prior to Christmas Day and gave the order for our family group, half of whom were traveling for several hours to join us. Unlike the previous reviewer, we weren’t offered Prosecco on arrival or canapés and the carrots I specifically ordered for one picky younger member of our group didn’t appear - rather a load of sprouts so al dente that no one could eat them plus a dish of unappetising cabbage! No sign of the usual roast parsnips, etc that always form part of traditional Christmas Day meals. To make matters worse - when we returned Boxing Day expecting to be able to choose from the menu obtained in November, the waiter sheepishly informed us that “the chef wants to use up the leftovers from yesterday” - so it was the turkey and cod again plus the price had increased slightly too! All in all it was an expensive lesson learned and we will be trying elsewhere next year.

Christmas Day Lunch .... absolutely awful ftom start to finish. Charging £95 per head this should have been all singing all dancing, instead it was poor quality, poor service and extremely disorganised. Staff serving were inconsistent, had no knowledge of menu and disappeared when items were requested. Starters were cheap and lacked taste. Main course had a couple of sprouts hidden under two small slices of turkey. Stuffing was hard and again tasteless. The menu said seasonal veg which was cabbage. No carrots, no cauliflower no effort! No sauces offered, had to request cranberry sauce, which came 10 minutes into main course in a pot that served one person! Service was by staff that had obviously no experience, they leaned over people, had no (or very little) concept of how to wait tables. Dessert consisted of Christmas puddings which were little microwave ones, could have been an aldi special. They were hard and tasteless. No after dinner coffee offered, no mints or token chocolates. In fact other than a glass of prosecco and some canapes on the bar it was past poor. This was the poorest christmas day lunch we have ever had. If I hadn't been with my parents who are 90 and were doing this as a treat for us I would have complained during the meal. I intend to go in and complain in person before New Year. What a sham for £95 per head .... meal was worth no more than £25 per head!!

We stayed for 3 nights the room was comfortable and cosy. We had everything we could need and the food in the restaurant was excellent. Staff were friendly and it had a lovely atmosphere. A very busy pub /restaurant. The only thing was on the Saturday evening there was a private party (we were told after being shown to our room) and whilst we were told about music in a message after we made our non refundable payment… we were told music normally finished by 23:00 the music (very loud) went on until 00:15 … there was no way we could have slept through this! After receiving the message about music we could see there was nothing for this weekend so maybe a more specific message should be sent to you hotel customers.. all in all we enjoyed our stay….. thank you

I liked the fruit-themed rooms. Mine was The Gooseberry, with green walls. Big room with enormous, comfortable double bed, generous bath with strong power shower and the usual hot drink-making facilities. Good hanging space for clothes and luggage storage. The hotel is close walking distance to the Wyre Forest Park Run which is why I booked to stay there with friends. We had a good dinner, there happened to be live music (Friday eve) and a wood burner to create a cosy atmosphere on a cold winter's night. The staff were very accommodating throughout especially because we were quite a large group for dinner then breakfast.

Very average evening meal. Needs improvement from the chef overcooked pork and fish and very soggy cabbage. My meal came with boring boiled new potatoes when it should’ve been sauté. The waitress( who was doing her best to be fair) took them back - the same potatoes were returned to me just chopped up - it actually made us laugh. There was no bacon on the bacon burger. The bread and butter pudding was just made of ……..well, bread! No fruit - not even pear as advertised. And we were overcharged for it - £8. Honestly we gave up complaining. Paid a fairly large bill and left

I want to recommend this Inn. The owners and staff are very helpful and friendly. We only stayed one night but I would love to go back again. One of my daughters and I don't sleep well, but the beds were so comfortable, we both slept like logs. The rooms are very modern and have a shower over a bath. Luxury! The food was good and at a reasonable price. They have a lot of regulars, and I'm not surprised. It's only 10 minutes drive from West Midlands Safari Park and various other sight seeing locations, including a local forest. A lovely place to spend a break.
