"We came here for two nights for an anniversary weekend and stayed in the Shenandoah room. The room was very well appointed, comfortable and spacious. We did use their pool out first afternoon which was very refreshing and we opted to do a steak dinner there our first night. You need to let them know if you opt for this at least 5 days ahead. We enjoyed this along with the wine we brought along. The next evening, we had dinner at Mill Street grill in Staunton. Amazing ribs and drinks. Each morning we enjoyed a delicious breakfast and during the day we found yummy baked treats in their dining room area to enjoy. The hospitality was very warm and I would recommend staying at this place!"

"This is a nice new hotel, but they really PISSED ME OFF at checkin. So they only get 1 star for the way they handled my arrival. My reservation clearly says that checkin is at 3:00 PM. But when I arrived at 3:05 PM, I was told they could not check me in until 4:00 PM. So the parking lot was empty and they had plenty of rooms. When we questioned the Front Desk Clerk, they said it was the General Managers policy that checkin was at 4:00 but they could check us in early for an extra 10% Fee. Again, the reservation clearly states checkin is at 3:00 PM. So we had to sit in the lobby for 55 minutes to wait until 4:00. I have been a loyal Marriott member for many years as a business traveler. But this is the first time I was treated this way at any Marriott property. This is abominable! Marriott needs to fix their General Manager or fix their website."

"The hotel is located in the valley, the exterior is beautiful, especially the blue sky and white clouds under the large purple myrtle bloom. Good service. The hotel's facilities are old, there is no table in the room, I can find a table outside the restaurant and write daily homework. The curtains are not sealed, and the light transmission is a bit affecting sleep."

"Sandra and Jeff treated us like family so much so that we didn't want to leave! Their home is wonderful with the sound of a creek right behind. Close to major hiking and kayaking adventures. Plenty of privacy as well. If we're ever in the area again, we'll look forward to staying again! (Might plan a trip in the area just to stay at Hummingbird.) Paul and Linda, Middlefield OH"
