It’s the old cliche of you get what you pay for. We didn’t realise that full board didn’t even include tap water with our meals. We were charged $3.60 for a jug of tap water so opted to go all inclusive. We ended up paying for a day that we couldn’t use due to being picked up at 9:45am. Josina at reception went above and beyond to help guide us around the city. Whilst the hotel is prime location for the beach, this is a hotel for Spanish residents not tourists as Josina was the only person who spoke English at reception. On arrival we paid for a fridge which was not delivered so had to chase up more than once. Bedding was filthy on two of the beds. The House keeper asked us to wait until tomorrow for them to be changed. Thank god for google translator. Had to go to reception 4 times to ask for clean bedding. The soap dispenser in one of the bathrooms was empty and there was a visible build up of dust on top of both soap dispensers in the bathrooms. The male bar staff were rude and on more than one occasion served the Spanish guests who were stood behind me in the line. The food selection was ok if you can get over the partial cooked fried eggs and tough bread. The sea food collection was good. Most of the shops are shut during the day and the ***** outside the hotel gets very busy at night especially on the weekends. If you are all Inclusive be mindful that this does not include the bar on the beach so you will have to travel back and forth to get drinks and snacks. This hotel is perfect if you like the beach but as with the hotel if you don’t speak Spanish you may have to use google translate to communicate. If you’re on the first floor be prepared to hear the hoover in reception from 6am onwards. Also on the first floor your room is cleaned very early in the morning.

Located in a historical building in the old town of Altafulla, Hotel Gran Claustre is a peaceful stay in this busy tourist location. Plenty of historical sights to enjoy around it. Rooms are clean, even though could do with a new hand of painting and more attention to details: like the shower which made a mess every time because it is not fully closed, so some water makes it out and floods the bathroom floor. There is parking space for cars, right in front of the hotel but they charge 6€ per day even for hotel guests, however drive a few minutes further up and there is plenty of free spots. Swimming pool is nice, boutique style, not big but well taken care of and picturesque.

Hotel was in a great location, close to the beach, train station and lots of cafes/shops / restaurants. Everything was walkable. The staff were all very friendly and helpful - eventhough we speak very limited spanish. Pastries and bottled water were provided each morning and there were tea and coffee facilities in the lobby. The hotel air conditioning was really strong, we never felt too hot overnight and the room was very clean and well presented!

Negatives Room above the restaurant was noisy from The people below and bottles being thrown into the recycle bank before 8am. We were a family of three. The third person slept on the sofa- thru were left with two sheets and used the spare pillow from the wardrobe- definitely an afterthought. The view of other apartments, unless you stretched over to see the pool ( block B first floor) room also smelt of cooked food on our arrival and the smell lingered throughout. Room booked for three but third person needed to make up their bed on the sofa and just given two sheets. We arrived late at night and on arrival no shops were open and the restaurant had closed. We needed some water and milk but the vending machine was out of order so we didn’t have anywhere until The next morning. We asked reception but they just pointed us to the vending again. Cleaner came to the room just before 10am each morning but we were still in the room getting ready. They didn’t return. I had emailed the hotel prior to arrival but didn’t get a response- this was a first for us so it may be our email went into their spam or it was overlooked. Positives Pool area nice, staff polite and friendly, and location handy. Would we return? No, much nicer places to stay

Excellent staff throughout, but particularly helpful on reception. This hotel is not situated in either the town of Sitges nor in the large village of Sant Pere de Ribes, but is located midway between the two in a very quiet residential area, with a very decent restaurant within 100 metres, and a useful shopping centre 20 minutes walk away. Breakfast was very good and quite laidback, whilst the evening menu was enjoyable, although our waiter struggled a bit with some English words ( like menu, wine, bread...). But we were is off the tourist trail Spain, and it was really up to us to be positive as to what we needed. Our room on the top floor had all we required and was well maintained, very clean and had a view of the pool. Very well equipped bathroom, large bed, excellent storage space - we were there for a nearby wedding and had a mountain of clothing... The bar was always manned , usually by reception, and had a very ood range of alcoholic , and non alcoholic beverages. The pool area was peaceful, even serene, and definitely a sun trap. One of the best things about the Hotel Desitges was the staff, throughout our stay they were very much on board making our stay special. All the reception staff were very helpful, it was really all about Ebe ( I really do hope I got the name correct).and she went out of here way to ensure that we got transport to the wedding and later back to BCN airport - our stay would not have been anything like as enjoyable without her assistance, and recommendations. This is quite an innovative place, or at least it seems that way to me. The host, Xavi is a very good multi linguistic chappy and has created this place almost by himself. The rooms are super clean as is the entire building. There is a communal table and chairs downstairs and you can keep your food in a communal fridge, just mark it with your room number. It’s quite central, easy to get to and from anywhere from here in this busking and vibrant micro-city from here. Highly recommended, great value for money. Very deserving of its rating as 3rd best hotel in Tarragona.

We stayed here for 2 nights in October 2019 as our base for exploring Tarragona and environs. This is a spotlessly clean place designed in the style of 1960s furnishings and decor but with all the current day conveniences. It is located about a 5 minutes drive north of the center of Tarragona, 1 block back from a nice sandy beach with a cafe/bar. The hotel's reception staff was super friendly and helpful, and spoke excellent English. The free on-site parking is a big plus for anyone arriving by car, although please do note that the parking is one level down from the lobby and there is no elevator to the parking level, so suitcases must be carried up one flight of steps or else dropped off at the front entrance to the lobby. The reception desk person did carry our suitcases up for us--much appreciated. Our room was on the 3rd floor and was seaview, with a nice balcony. There are railroad tracks that separate the hotel from the beach, but there is an underpass for beach access. Train noise was not bothersome and didn't interfere with sleep. Good breakfast also!

The rooms are tiny. Paper thin walls. No bathroom door. Just a swinging glass door. Anything that happens in the bathroom is heard throughout the room. No in room coffee. If you are used to AC Marriott levels of service you will be disappointed here. We booked a family room for our family of three. We requested a higher level floor corner with a view. We received confirmation that the hotel would do everything they could to accommodate our request. The room they gave us was interior with a view of a brick wall and it was so small the three of us could barely stand at the same time, and no place to sit just on the bed. When I asked about them accommodating our request they told me that the people that respond to specific requests have no idea what types of rooms are available in the hotel. The reception staff was friendly yet very novice and did not understand the concept of taking care of the guest. I requested ice to take to our room and 15 minutes later, while waiting in the lobby, I received a little bucket with eight cubes of ice and was told the charge would be one euro for the ice. There was no manager on duty. Reception staff told me that this Hotel is for individual business travelers, not families. This is true. We had to purchase an additional room at full price to accommodate our son. The family room is not large enough to accommodate three people comfortably. We will not be staying here again and will be very hesitant about booking accommodations with AC Marriott again…
