Not been to restaurant for years. Went for Sunday lunch. A carvery was being served. The food was good, and generous helpings. Staff polite. But.... Could have given a more professional service...Appearance and dress of staff too casual. Lady doing carving was wearing jeans and a vest top. Very long hair in a pony tail ,no head covering. Also seemed to be a noisy family gathering by staff. Not professional.

I was, initially, disappointed by the limited fare available on the lunch menu but then I realised that it was a lunchtime and most establishments had such limitations. Overcoming my initial disappointment I was very impressed by the friendly atmosphere. There was only one person on duty and she was making a very valiant effort to cover everyone and everything. She certainly got her steps in today and probably enough for the next week or two. The food was well prepared and presented and the flavours did nothing to spoil the illusion. It was good food, cooked well and a more than ample portion. Would I dine there again? Yes. My wife has made two other bookings for a Sunday and for the Xmas menu. I would heartily recommend that you try this for yourself and find out just how good the place is.

We visited the pub on a Saturday evening for a meal. When we arrived at 6pm there were one other family there, the rest of the place empty which I immediately thought whats going on here as we couldn't get a table anywhere we had previously tried. The pub did look clean, the guy behind the bar was friendly. He came and took our orders quickly. I ordered prawn cocktail which didn't come with and tomato/onions/cucumber as usual and they had no butter for the bread. However, plenty of prawns, sauce, very nice. My partner had soup, also lovely, no butter for bread. Main meals came out soon after, my partner had steak which again looked lovely, chips crispy. My Lasagne was bone dry, no sauce left inside, no cheese on top and very much seemed like it had been reheated on more than one occasion when we were told ot was made fresh by the day (absolutely not a chance it was) the pasta was like cardboard and the meat at the very bottom was like burnt somehow. The server said somehow that particular bit had been under the grill too long or something and offered me another plate of it but I refused and asked for the lasagne to be taken off the bill which was done no questions asked. The pub was very cold (I understand the cost of living) just hard to enjoy a meal when so cold. The family in there before us had coats on and the locals that came into the bar after also kept their coats on. Over all, the place seems unprepared even for the smallest of groups, pretty pub lacking any atmosphere and for the cost of food it should be better than it is. I would try it again as they dealt with any complaint well but expected better.

Booked an evening table for two, arrived and was told that there wasn’t any food as restaurant had no deliveries and to go elsewhere. We were given a rapid fire list of pubs and that was it. The reservation had my phone number, so no reason why we had to waste a journey when a phone call beforehand would have sufficed. Won’t chance this again.

So me and hubby decided to go for a nice Sunday lunch. Hadn’t been here for years, drove past a few days previously and thought how lovely it looked- How wrong we were! 13:30 on a Sunday and it was so quiet! Only about 3 tables sat eating. Ordered roast Turkey for both of us. When it arrived, very little meat that was dry. No stuffing on plate, I explained to waitress that there should be stuffing, just got told ‘ oh we haven’t got any.’ Bearing in mind they have Turkey and pork on menu, both stipulating that they come with stuffing. It would have been nice to have been told this at point of ordering as I would have changed to roast beef. The veg was full of water and mushy, just like frozen veg. No one came to check if everything else was ok with meal. I had to ask for salt and pepper and that arrived as little sachets, not expected in a restaurant. All we kept hearing at other tables was, so sorry about the wait, they only had 4 tables to tend to! Very poor service, poor quality food. Floor was filthy. Will not be returning, such a shame, as under right staff and management could be a fantastic country pub.

Sorry to say but didn’t have the best time at this pub. The service was very lacking even though it was a very quiet Sunday. Couldn’t find our table booking when we arrived. Had to go to the bar to order food as we were sat for about half hour waiting. Sat with no drinks for ages. Should really be checking on customers to see if they need anything not doing all you can to avoid eye contact. Starters were tiny. Main was nice but we were ready to leave after waiting so long. Asked about stuffing was told it is usually on there but never come back with it or to say they have none.

Just had a very nice afternoon tea at the Tayleur This is not the 1st time we have had afternoon tea here but the 1st for around 4 years. Today's sandwiches on wholemeal sliced bread were, prawn cocktail, ham and tomato, cheese and tomato jam. Puds black forest meringue, chocolate torte, macaroons plus nice large fruit scones, James and cream plus unlimited tea and coffee. On previous occasions we have had open sandwiches on crusty bread with a few more varieties of toppings and the cakes were like petit fours. I personally prefer the open fresh bread version but the desserts were nicer on this last trip Can't fault the standard or portions at all and we did have the opportunity to bring the left overs home All in all we had a great quality lunch and we were not rushed so could chill and chat whilst picking We will definitely go again and the price is a bargain 2 for £21 Big thank you to the staff for making this trip so pleasant

It was a bit confusing when I arrived. I soon found a table for Holly(my dog) and me. The menu was varied. I opted for the ploughman's, with cheeses and ham. Not being fussed on shropshire blue, the chef offered me pate instead. It was huge when it arrived with apples, breads, celery, grapes, pickles and salad. It was lovely, we both enjoyed it . Washed down with a bottle of non alcoholic cider. Perfect. We were made very welcome by both staff and locals. We'd definitely go back

Booked over Two weeks ago via phone and email an afternoon tea baby shower for my daughter and a small group of family and friends. Correspondence was good and was able to pay deposit via bank transfer Very accommodating to allow decoration on the table Table was set for dinner not afternoon tea. We let the bar staff know that everyone had arrived 10 mins after we arrived. After about 10 mins they brought out the impressive array of sandwiches savoury scones and sweet treats. We then waited for another 20 mins for two tea pots of tea but no cups and saucers at no point were we asked our preference for tea or coffee and if we would like to upgrade to Gin and tonic or Prosecco We had to constantly ask for coffee and tea cups We also wanted to upgrade to Prosecco and G&T in a teapot as communicated via telephone No Prosecco only sparkling rose not chilled they would put it in the freezer if we waited another 10–15 minutes we declined Gin and tonic was not in a teapot After waiting Coffee had to be sent back several times as full of ground coffee floating on the top We eventually got tea cups no saucers after 20 mins So from sitting down to getting cups for the tea was an hour I might point out there was only two other groups in the restaurant who had finished their meals when we arrived so we were the only group in the restaurant. When paying the bill they didn’t charge for the one Gin and Tonic and Diet Coke due to the poor service However still tried to over charge us. We made the most of the event playing a few games and enjoyed the food all in all had a lovely time
