"The rooms and bathrooms in this motel are spacious, modern and well designed with a fully equipped kitchenette. There’s a laundry on site so it’s handy for longer stays. It's in a great location right on the Warrego Highway and just a short walk to the shops and restaurants. There is a bit of noise from the Highway, but it didn’t really bother us. If you are a light sleeper, ask for a room on the far side of the complex. The receptionist was super friendly and helpful – and gave us some useful dinner suggestions!"

"BE AWARE OF THE OWNERS ATTACKING DOGS!!!!! Unfortunately my family had a terrible experience at the Overlander Homestead Motel after staying 1 night. We cut our stay short when about 10 of the owners Dachshund dogs ran towards me barking aggressively as I was walking towards the pool area from our room to supervise our children in the pool. I was bitten 3 times on the legs through my jeans before the owner was able to get to me. This was unprovoked. She was extremely apologetic but it does not excuse the fact that both of the owners knowingly have these aggressive little dogs around the public! Could have been much worse if it was one of the children. This is not okay and I will not be recommending this business to anybody. Locals tell me this is not the first time the dogs have harassed people on the premises, so the owners are aware! We refused to stay the second night and had a much more pleasant stay in another motel, Athena, that was not as old and dated as this one."

"The room was filthy (even had someone’s toe nails left on the floor), dirty hand prints on towels, no spare toilet paper and we were left with about 1/4 of a roll for a 2 night stay between 3 people, stained bedding, mould on top of cupboard from air conditioner, the ceiling fan hadn’t been cleaned in months there was so much dust collected and you can hear the conversations of everyone in the next room. Friends stayed in a room near us and they had dog hair all over their bedding along with what we think was coffee stains on the floor and similar noise issues. Would not recommend this place at all. "

"A comfortable stay in a convertible located, three minutes walk to the States and to two good pubs with good food options. Short walk to town centre. Spacious room. Clean room and bathroom. Fridge, microwave, desk, chairs. Toaster, cutlery, crockery available from reception. Good air conditioning and Wifi. Off street parking in front of room. Bed was comfortable. Quiet and good sleep. Shower had good hot water, exhaust , heater and good pressure. Convenient reading light switches. Would stay again. "

"A bit unexpectedly we had to stay in Roma the night. It is a busy town and many of the motels were already booked so we were pleased to get a room at the Motel Carnarvon. As it turned out, very pleased. It is a big motel and seemed to extremely well run, right down to the under-cover parking outside the rooms. Our room was spacious with a queen and single beds and with a large bathroom that was friendly to those with mobility issues. Spotlessly clean, comfy bed, strong wifi, a table and a couple of chairs. It ticked all our boxes. Everything worked ... plus it's close to town. The room rate is not inexpensive but then I got the impression there aren't a lot of cheap rooms in Roma. In that framework it was pretty good value for money."
