"## Facilities
The hotel opened last year, so all the facilities are brand new and configured to five-star hotel standards. The rooms are not only equipped with standard amenities found in high-end hotels, but also provide detergent for hand-washing delicates, dental floss, mouthwash, facial cleansing towels, disinfectant wipes, sleep masks, and nail clipper sets. They offer both hand soap and bar soap. Most importantly, they provide disposable slippers with a wet/dry separation design and a Dyson hairdryer (a godsend for bleached hair!)…
The rooms are very well-designed. I stayed in two different rooms over two days, and each had its own unique style and features, with a minimalist yet elegant black and white aesthetic. The king room on the first floor had a slightly smaller bathroom but featured a small balcony, perfect for sitting out and listening to the rain during Hangzhou's recent wet weather. The twin room on the second floor had a Japanese-style low bed, with two tatami seats by the window for tea. The large window offered views of the neighboring tea mountains, and the bathroom was spacious enough for a bath.
## Hygiene
The hygiene was exceptionally good. Even though black might be more forgiving of dirt, both the rooms and corridors were immaculately clean – I couldn't find a single flaw.
## Environment
The hotel is situated between Hupao Park and Prince Bay Park. While it's a bit of a distance from West Lake, it's not too far, making it convenient to get anywhere. It also feels very safe; you need to use your room key card to access each floor. On my first night, I was staying alone on the first floor and forgot to close the balcony door, but everything was fine. The hotel is built into a small tea mountain, offering opportunities for leisurely strolls. The views are beautiful, whether it's raining or sunny. However, guests need to walk up a hill for check-in/check-out or when going out, passing by some small shops and guesthouses. W Plus is located at the very end of this path. Nevertheless, cars can drive directly to the hotel entrance (parking is available), and staff are happy to pick you up (they are all very enthusiastic about helping with luggage). With only ten rooms, there's hardly anyone passing by, making it exceptionally quiet. Earplugs are also provided in the rooms.
## Service
The service was absolutely, incredibly excellent. The WeChat concierge responded almost instantly. They contacted me in advance before check-in to ensure a swift room handover upon arrival. Although it presents as a high-end hotel, it genuinely has a personal touch. The staff are all young, and the working atmosphere is fantastic. You can chat with them casually, but they always maintain a professional demeanor. Regardless of whether a room is occupied, they always ask permission before entering, never just walking in unannounced. Not only can breakfast be delivered to your room by appointment, but they also offer afternoon tea (with cakes, snacks, and drinks) and a complimentary sweet soup before bed (which I believe is homemade). What's more, all coffee, beverages, snacks, and fruit in the room are free – incredible value!
On a side note, the hotel's Longjing tea is exceptionally good. I had Longjing tea at Lou Wai Lou for 58 yuan a cup, and it turned bitter after a short while, but the W Plus Longjing remained smooth even after steeping for a long time. When I mentioned wanting to buy some, the staff even gifted me two packs. Apparently, the Longjing tea provided in the rooms is locally sourced and brewed daily with Hupao spring water. I feel the owner could definitely expand into selling these products!
W Plus, like a resort hotel, offers laundry and ironing services. If you give your clothes to the staff the day before, they'll be delivered back to your door by the next morning. I don't know what detergent they use, but it smells wonderfully fresh (and it's machine washed! This was a huge relief, especially compared to commercial hotels where every single item costs extra). I was initially curious why they delivered laundry so early each day. The staff told me they follow guest suggestions, washing light and dark clothes separately, and sometimes they even work late into the night to keep up. The owner deserves a bonus! Sometimes, when things get busy, even the owner pitches in.
I've previously stayed at the Lux* Chongzuo, Guangxi, which also offers butler service and complimentary sweet soup, similar to W Plus. However, at Lux*, guests have to do their own laundry, whereas W Plus handles it, making W Plus much better value for money (especially considering Lux* starts at 4500 RMB per night).
## Summary
Thanks to W Plus, my trip to Hangzhou was filled with joyful memories, and I will definitely stay here again on my next visit. On a side note, the hotel owner is only 20 years old – truly young and accomplished! It makes you wonder how some Gen Z individuals can be so successful while others (like me, perhaps!) struggle."
