Hotels near Basilica of Saint Mary of the Angels and Martyrs in Rome

I'm sure that each of us has his own scale of factors to evaluate whether a place is beautiful or ugly but that the added value is the people. In this clean, nice and very comfortable hotel, near the Roma Termini station, it is precisely the people who make a small hotel a point of reference for our trips to Rome. Paola from the reception was, and is, the person who followed us during the booking process and who went out of her way to help us project our photographs on a wall, in a small room set up just for us, a small group of photographers arrived in town for a two day photography course. Very clean place. I heard so many bad reviews about bedbug so changed to this hotel bc it’s new. Very clean overall and close to Termini. However the neighborhood is pretty ghetto so if you are traveling alone, it’s best to go early as possible

Stayed here for 3 nights, never felt like staying in a 4* in any way. The only good things about the hotel were its location and some options for breakfast. During my stay, I never felt welcome here. No one even had the courtesy to even say 'good morning' or 'welcome'. This was probably one of the places where the reception staff is equally rude and cold as the restaurant staff. What kind of 4* hotel restaurant has a single coffee machine which servers one cup at a time ? Or a single toaster which can toast only one bread at a time ? What kind of 4* hotel doesn't have an electric kettle in the room ? When asked for a kettle, the reception staff throws terrible attitude at you like ”Do you know it is not included in your package ? Ok, let me think about doing this as a favour for you”. Wi-Fi was terrible most of the time. I would recommend not to throw money by staying here, there are many better options around.

Easily reachable from Termini station, even on foot in just 5 minutes. Dim light and dated decor. Comfortable beds and clean bathroom. Poorly cared for finishes, good fixtures and soundproofing. Air conditioning not adjustable independently from your room. If it turns off, it turns on again automatically. Varied and plentiful breakfast!

The location is great, less 10 mins walk (with luggage) from Roma Termini. Room is clean and spacious (we got free upgrade!!). Supermarket is also quite near. About 20 mins walk to the colosseum. Will stay there again.

The room is spacious enough for me and my friend to open our luggage at the same time and still lots of room to walk around with the case opened. The bed and linens are comfortable. Desk to long and wide, with two chairs allow us to use and put on daily skin care together. Only if they could setup slippers in room and add in tooth brush and tooth paste in the bathroom then it will be perfect. Location wise there are quite a lot of restaurants around and it is very close to the central terminal, just a 5-10 minutes walk. You can also take bus or train around to travel around attractions in Rome very easily. There are 2-3 receptionists in the check in counter, they are very knowledgeable to Rome and hotel product knowledge, hope they could keep smile on faces and more friendly. Also I request a non need service to our room to the housekeeping attendant on the second day, but we came back to the room and found it was cleaned. Attached the photo is the door stopper which I found good for the attendant they don’t need to bend their back and also to protect the door from getting starches at the same time.

Terrible experience to rebook the hotel room by use of hotel voucher offered due to 2020 covid pandemic that we cannot travel to Italy. We had decided not to rebook the hotel anymore after all these 20-30 times back and forth unpleasant communication in Apr & May 2023, we had raised complaint to Agoda (our booking agent, very nice to communicate, all are not Agoda's fault, they already did their best but the hotel also treat Agoda very badly in tone of reply as well) and to consumer council of our country to follow up the voucher issue. We had paid EUR880 in 2020 for two separated bookings for luxuary apartment (3 bedroom non refund) for 8 guests at the hotel. Unluckily we cannot travel to Italy and the hotel counter offer us 2 cash vouchers value 586 EUR and 290 EUR each, total 880 EUR for rebooking in future. The voucher was then extended to use until 30 Sep 2023. Recently in Apr 2023, we tried to rebook the hotel by use th these 2 vouchers. However the hotel suddenly list out new rules as below that really get us on fire. By refer to the supporting below, I would not advice a trial to this hotel group, dispite their unreasonable arrangement, their reservation team is very unfriendly and rude, their tone speaking to you is like somebody ask for sponsor or a ”beggar” who are looking for free lunch and free accomodation. I can say their service attitude is the worst I had encounter, even budget hostel is not that worse. Not mentioning other good hotel with stars. I don't recommend travellers to try living in there, unless you are very rich and you don't mind spending much money for unpleasant service/booking experience. Since I felt this hotel is very untrustworthy throughout the experience. 1. The calculation of room rate in use of voucher nd doesn’t align with room rate on official website (Per voucher term, the room rate shall be best available rate) Supporting: Hotel ask for additional charge 200 EURO for 3 nights family room (non-refund) where official published room rate shall be 987 EUR only and only additional 107 shall be charged to us (987 EURO – 880.14 EURO). However, the hotel insists to charge 200 EURO and not willing to provide breakdown / justification why the charge in use of voucher is much higher than published room rate. 2. The hotel suddenly list out new rules that they disallow booking of different room type for the 3 consecutive nights booking. Supporting: The hotel disallow us to book 1-night classic room (EUR 237/night ) and 2 nights family room (EUR 329/night) when we raise our rebooking request. However, I’m making use of the 2 separate vouchers, as guest we cannot understand the reasonableness of this new limitation and it limits our choices to either 1) paying additional 200 EURO for 3 nights family room booking or I leave 169 EURO forfeited for 3 nights classic room which are of much lower value (Total 711 EUR) than our voucher value (880 EUR) 3. It was an extended weekend family trip, so this hotel was a good fit since it was not all that far away from some interesting things, and it was priced reasonably. The room was spacious, with a plain design making it a little ugly, but it was clean and well cared for. Our view was of the apartments in the opposite buildings, but we got our views elsewhere. The bathroom was OK even if the shower doors did not close properly. They cleaned the room daily and left fresh towels, even if we did not ask for. What was really bad was the soap/shampoo that they offered. Not that it smelled bad or anything but it reminded me of the soaps hotels had in the 80s The common are was almost always busy, but the people were respectful and friendly, and left the place clean. The wifi was fast, even when using VPN like I did. Breakfast was nice, with a lot of choices and interesting flavors. But the coffee was really bad. You do not expect that in Italy, but it was from an automatic machine that made different kind of coffees, so the result was bad. The people that worked there were always smiling, were friendly and eager to help, which is something that always helps when you are staying in a foreign country. The hotel is next to a police station and the immediate area felt safe, even at night. There are homeless people close by but they never bothered us. There is also a metro station within walking distance. All in all, we had a pleasant stay and it is a great choice for a brief family vacation

We came as a family of five and we had a fabulous stay. The reception staff were so lovely and helpful, ordering us taxis and making us feel comfortable from the very beginning. The joining rooms were great, with a lovely view of the top of the nearby church (Basilica Papale di Santa Maria Maggiore) which was majestically lit each evening. The bells that ring at 9 o'clock also add a beautiful touch, especially when paired with its origin tale (it related to a lost pilgrim finding her way in the past and then ensuring that the bells were always rung from then on). There are lots of restaurants nearby and it is close to the Colosseum, Trevi fountain etc. I would highly recommend.
