The bed was large and very comfortable. The bathroom was very large too. It was all clean. Most guest rooms are in annexes, with reception and dining in the old building (old for Oz, anyway) which boasts a bit of style. Breakfast was quite good but items such as bacon and scrambled eggs did not stay very hot about the buffet. I liked the sourdough. Reception was prompt and professional. Now the minor dislikes: it’s a good 30 minute walk from the CBD / waterfront, up a bit of hill all the way. (There is an area with plenty of bars etc about half way). I walked several times a day and it was OK. Most guests will have cars though. The living area in the room needed a TV. If there can only be one TV per room, it would be better there than in front of the bed in my opinion. Finally, one of the two wardrobes is locked up, presumably to store linen etc. The other only has hanging space so there was no shelving. I felt a little cheated that half of “my” potential wardrobe space was denied to me! On balance, I would consider staying again, even though it is a little way out of town. Overall it is large, clean, comfortable and manages a little style.

I found this hotel on the spur of the moment. It's the only one in the city with parking. The hotel is quite old. The rooms are divided into several buildings. It's not very convenient. I have to find it. There is no elevator. And no air conditioning.

The room has a lot of space, and the shelf is a bit low, but the bedroom is separated from the living room, so it is convenient to use. The bedroom has a terrace, so you can stand outside directly. Average for a Rydges Hotel
The Hotel is charming and located near good cafes. The room was spacious and bed comfortable. Unfortunately I was located on the lower floor of an attached building and the noise from the bathroom above keep me awake with the toilet flushing and shower being used. No insulation between the bathrooms which was a negative in my view as a light sleeper.

Based in heritage lovely character building with plenty of space in rooms. A good option if you have a car for easy parking, and don't mind a decent walk or quick Uber/Taxi into town.
