"I stayed at the Alegria in May as a solo traveller with Jet2, and my whole stay was perfect. I was welcomed in a very pleasant and highly efficient manner by the reception staff, and my room was exactly as requested and extremely comfortable. The standard of cleaning each day was first class, and I had the best night’s sleep as it was so quiet. The restaurant is clean and very well maintained. The weekend I was there was extremely busy with many families and children, but I was always able to find a table and my drinks were brought immediately. The food was absolutely superb at each and every meal — always hot and with so much choice. The bar area was truly lovely and immaculately clean, and again, even when extremely busy, there was always room to sit. The entertainment area is also very well laid out. I absolutely loved the area where the hotel is located. I walked every day to the stunning beach, and the whole area reminded me of a movie set because it is so green with perfectly manicured parks and not a **** in sight. It is clearly a very wealthy and well cared-for area. However, the best part of my holiday was meeting each and every member of staff here. I have been learning Spanish for many years, and to be surrounded by Spanish clientele and staff was a very valuable experience for me. It was so refreshing not to have fellow British tourists drinking heavily and covered in tattoos everywhere, haha. The staff replied to me in Spanish, which I really appreciated, as that is how I truly learn and practise. In places like Fuengirola, it can feel overwhelmed by British and Irish pubs, but this felt like authentic Spain and I loved it. The Jet2 rep, Pilar, was awesome, and I booked a trip to Cádiz which was breathtaking. The guide, Maggie, and the whole tour were perfect. The restaurant staff are so efficient and accommodating. The bar staff are amazing, and I honestly do not know how they keep up when it gets busy, but they were always pleasant and highly efficient. The restaurant staff are equally wonderful, as are the cleaning staff, and even the chefs were so pleasant. The hotel has such a warm Spanish feel to it — totally perfect all round. I want to give my sincerest thanks to literally everyone and to say that their hard work does not go unnoticed and is greatly appreciated. The management should be very proud of this establishment. "FOOD POISONING and horrible customer service 1. I got severely food poisoned at the buffet. 2. There is mole in the bedrooms and bathrooms 3. The pools are not properly cleaned, leading to significant amounts of black algae. 4. Possibly bed bugs in the hotel - we have all been bitten by something during night at least Despite medical confirmation and pictures, the hotel manager denied all responsibility and said that it was “his business ethics to prove clients wrong”. When we asked for compensation for the extra night we were forced to stay in the room while I vomited he threatened that he would have the police arrest our family if we didn’t pay in full immediately. Horrible experience. Stay clear. Nice beach but unbelievably bad experience at a “4 star” hotel. Stay away if you care for your health."

"Good afternoon! I'm writing to explain what happened today. We booked two rooms and an apartment through the same company. An emergency operation was required for the person who rented the apartment. This person is the sister of someone staying in one of the rooms at this hostel (Boutique La Española in Rota) and the daughter of the guests in the other room. We sent reports documenting the situation, but they refused to issue a refund, keeping the full amount. I find it extremely unacceptable that they would consider the need for close relatives to have a vacation given the circumstances and refuse to take responsibility for something so urgent. I hope my comment will make others think twice before booking this place."

"I understand that it was February, but the hotel was really not welcoming. The weather was nice, but there was not really any table and chairs outside apart a few in front the main area. The swimming pool was closed, what it's normal for February, but with a fence around it. It really looks terrible! At some point, it was sunny and I wanted to work outside, there was not table and chair near our bedroom where the wifi signal was good, so we had to choice that going where we can find some table and chairs outside the bar and the reception area, where the wifi signal was very inconsistant. I can see on my laptop that there was another wifi signal for the events, that one appeared to be strong and good. I asked to the reception if there was a way for them to give me the code as the general wifi was not keeping cutting and I can't sit near our bedroom where there was not table and chair outside, the person at the reception replied frankly: NO, it's not possible. I was not happy and he told me he was going to ask his manager. I came back 10 mins later, nothing, it was clear that he didn't ask... I expressed very clearly how I was disappointed not necessary about the weak wifi signal, but more about the fact that the staff at the reception was clearly ignoring us, they even didn't pretend. I was told that someone from management will get back to us, we left the following day and nobody came back to us. Extremely disappointed. Also, if you've got children, it's not a family hotel, there is a small slide and a couple of swings at the very end of the hotel, with nowhere to sit for the parents. There is not really an access from the bedrooms to the swimming pool other than through the main reception area, not great when you are wet. Anyway, it didn't apply to us as the swimming pools were closed, but in Summer time, it wouldn't have been great!"

"I will start with saying the maids were amazing my room was spotless. The bottom of the pool was filthy, my son even found food at the bottom. The all inclusive restaurant was just beyond unhygienic. Birds flying in and eating the large stack of bread, food being served raw, dirty tables. The sections around the food were disgusting. Picked up bowls and plates on numerous days to find old food imbedded on them. 3 out of 4 of my party had sickness whilst we were there. We were also not informed about the roof terrace restaurant. All in all just extremely disappointing"

"We had a swim up room which was excellent. We had all the facilities we needed the rooms are fully equipped and the hotel is really clean. The way the room was positioned near the main pool was perfect as well. All the staff were really helpful and brilliant and the reception stay were super helpful. This may be the most relaxing holiday we have ever had and we can't wait to return. The hotel is in a great position for accessing the beach, there are no shops or restaurants in easy walking distance other than a beach bar. A taxi to rota is worth a trip it is a lively area with plenty of restaurants and bars."
