Purobeach Resort Santa Ponsa - New Opening

We travelled with little expectation but we were pleasantly surprised. Room decor a little dated but very clean. stunning seaview facing the Square. Food very good, plenty of choice. we enjoyed afternoon cards and drinks on the terrace served by lovely staff (in fact all staff very friendly) zero complaints from us. We would happily return

We stayed here last year and loved it so much that we booked again for April 2024. Unfortunately, when emailing the hotel to request the same rooms as last year they informed us that the hotel was closed for the season. We promptly informed travel republic, who claimed that they were not aware. Given that the hotel informed us less that 24 hrs after we emailed them, I believe that TR either didn't want the hassle of sorting us an alternative accommodation or hadn't even booked us in yet. TR were less than helpful and were interested in helping us. (Not the hotels fault!) I am so glad we emailed the hotel beforehand and that they were so prompt in informing us they were closed, giving us opportunity to sort something before travelling. I dread to think where we would have ended up if we had arrived to an empty hotel!

i love this place my favourite hotel in Santa Ponsa , A good friendly atmosphere. The staff are a decent, always smiling and helpful. Very clean hotel good standard. I always go all-inclusive find it good value for money, its my forth visit here over the years and it still has the same barmen and restrurant staff. there are some great views to be seen here and very relaxing. i will be back

From the minute we checked in the staff were amazing. Reception staff- extremely helpful. Restaurant staff-the best 👌, bar staff- funny. Food was lovely. Different choice everyday and a wide selection. Always hot dogs and chips available for my restrictive eater. Air con in the room was perfect after a walk up from the beach. Drinks were available until midnight- My children lived on the slushies. Never any issues getting a sunbed although it did start to get busy as we were checking out. Kids entertainment was good. Views across santa ponsa beach are breath-taking. Can't fault this hotel or the brilliant staff. Would defo recommend and come back.

We stayed here for 1 week AI and had a wonderful time. Our flights were delayed so we arrived just after 11 pm, but check-in was very quick and we were shown to our room in a quiet position at back of hotel and told if we went to the restaurant we would find a cold plate set up for us and drinks, which was much appreciated. All meals are buffet style and the restaurant had some stunning views. Food everyday was good, varied, nice Greek food options, lots fruit, salads, desserts etc. Never found it that busy with nice staff (especially Lica who was very friendly and cheerful) who kept everything tidy and clean. Our room was spacious, cleaned everyday and beds made, lovely bathroom. The bar area and patio are great, nice views again and plenty of seating. Bar staff are helpful, cheerful, funny and entertaining especially Chencho and Andreas who work really hard and always greeted you with a smile. Pools are very good, although we tended to use the smaller quiet pool to the side of the restaurant, where there always plenty of sunbeds and more low key, so we could just sunbathe and relax. Entertainment most evenings low key, but good fun. Enjoyed the quiz nights, my husband got a medal so very happy! Santa Ponsa (The Square) which is just a short 5 minute walk away, turn left out of the hotel and down the hill. We found it to be quiet with some lovely bars, The Crown and The Hogan, always made us very welcome. Also had a lovely Chinese meal one evening, excellent value. Met some nice people. We walked down to Santa Ponsa beach a few times also which took about 15 minutes, harder coming back up the hill but worth the walk. Overview Hotel is ok, very basic and shabby. Rooms are in need of an upgrade, old furniture and brick solid beds, feel like you’ve stepped back in time. The hotel is on a large hill which is ok as it’s serviced by a mini bus, however this only has seats 8 so get there early. The hotel is spread out over a large area and rooms are all on different levels meaning there’s are stairs everywhere, some rooms can be as much as 6 flights down from reception. I would not recommend this to anyone with any mobility issues, older people or people with children. Reception staff are not the most helpful - trying to find your room isn’t easy and they just give you a map and send you on your way. They are also very rude and inconsiderate with the evening male receptionist having a terrible attitude. The clientele is very mixed with families, couples both young and old. Many rude individuals who don’t know how to queue or have many manners. Due to the close proximity to the bars of Santa Ponsa it seems to attract some undesirable types who are just out for an alcohol fuelled break so if you want peace and quiet and a good night sleep, I’d maybe think again. You get what you pay for here, 3 star but could really do with some upgrades as I would say it’s at the lower end of 3 star. Food - 3/5 Food was very mixed, always something to eat but selection is a bit smaller than your usual all inclusive. Theme nights were nice but missed the mark on the food quality. Meat options are always very fatty which is a shame. Large salad selection. Breakfast was a bit disappointing if you don’t like beans and eggs as that seemed to be much of what they had. Ivan and Vincente from the restaurant are a credit to the hotel, lovely and friendly. Cleanliness 4/5 Maids are courteous and friendly. Rooms were clean enough but the floors could be cleaner. Towels and beds changed everyday except Sunday and Thursdays. Toilets in the bar and restaurant could do with being cleaned more often. Facilities 2/5 Apart from the pools there isn’t much to do. The spa pool wasn’t opened on some of the days we were there and if it was it wasn’t until 2/3pm. There is apparently some football or tennis pitches across the road but not to our taste. The bar was small and dated, but never too busy. May be busier in peak season. The aircon in our room didn’t work until 5 days into our stay, I’m not sure if this is centrally controlled and this is why - not great for stuffy rooms. The pools were very dirty and in the time we were there we didn’t see it being cleaned. I don’t think these are chlorinated either. Entertainment 1/5 Mini disco every night then some sort of entertainment. Singers mostly and mostly rubbish. Entertainment starts very late so not great. Location 3/5 Lovely views especially if your in a room that isn’t down many flights of stairs. A short walk to the main centre and back although many stairs or big hills so not for those with any walking issues.
