We didn’t stay here but next time I’m in Rothbury I will, we stopped by for lunch on a very cold snowy day and was given a warm welcome. Food was delicious mince and dumplings and the ham egg and chips. Staff very friendly and made friends with our little dog.

We are here one evening whilst staying in the area. It’s a traditional local pub however the food is presented at restaurant standard. Between us we had the ham and chips, veggie curry and kids pasta plus golden syrup pudding and apple crumble. All dishes were well presented and tasted great. Portion sizes were generous and we left full and happy! Staff were friendly and attentive and we would return if in the area again.

We were a group of 13 cyclists - so fitting us in was always going to be a challenge. Especially so as the numbers grew from 11 to 13 after we originally booked. Bikes were fitted in a pretty secure yard, we locked them all together and they were not going anywhere. Busy place but crucially enough staff on to manage - and the staff were great. We had dinner at the hotel and it was good "pub grub" - again good service. Breakfast very good - served quickly and very decent. Be aware that you need to pay for the rooms when you check in if you have booked over the phone. Some maths issues but sorted. The manager (bar manager) is a keen cyclist and her advice re the next day's route saved us several hundred feet of climbing and a mile or so.

We were a group of 5 lads on a biking trip along the Sandstone Way from Berwick to Hexham. We arrived here on our second day to a warm welcome from Debbie and her friendly and helpful team. After checking in and a warm shower we had food in the restaurant which was fantastic. The room was clean, warm, and very spacious. The Breakfast was equally as fantastic. I would recommend this to anyone on a similar adventure, walkers or just a weekend away. Thanks, from us all.

We really enjoyed our 4 nights at the Turk's Head. It was a great example of a pub with rooms. There was a warm welcome, the staff were friendly, lovely in fact, without exception. Breakfasts were great, delicious with lots of choice. We only ate there one evening, because we wanted to explore other venues, but that meal was great. I had steak and ale pie, which was superb, and the portions were very generous. The selection of drinks in the bar was great, and reasonably priced. Our room, Simonside, was very comfortable, although the bathroom was very big and empty-looking. I loved looking out on the main street every morning, and hearing the chimes from the church clock. Although there was no car park, on-street parking was not a problem. In short, we really enjoyed our stay.

Just returned home 😞 from a fabulous 5 days at The Turks Head. The Garden Room was amazing, comfiest bed I've ever slept in. The staff are outstanding - so friendly and welcoming. Great variety (we are veggie) of really tasty meals. Our dog, Trent, was spoiled with his breakfast sausages! I can certainly recommend for a lovely holiday in a stunning part of England
