The Frenchie

Would not recommend this place. We paid $600/night and definitely not worth that rate! Awful mattress, no restaurant, NOISEY....up until 1:00 AM!! And called the number to cut the noise (music and partying women) & got NO answer!! If you wish to stay out in the country at a great place, with a 5-star chef, as well as breakfast, masseuse, fantastic rooms, go to the BLAIR HOUSE in Wimberley. I came to Frenchies with a friend to go to the antique sales...but IF I come back for the antique shopping, I will definitely not be staying at Frenchies!!

Cute hotel but I don't recommend staying in the main house. Floors are so thin that a normal conversation by guests in the upper room can be heard through to floors like they are in the same room. If you are unlucky enough to have to share the old main house with other guests that don’t abide by quiet hours, a good nights rest is in jeopardy.

The Frenchie is such a lovely oasis. I stayed for two days and felt like I had been at a retreat for a week. The decor is lovely, every detail perfect, the food is delicious and I couldn't have loved the pool area more!

Beautiful property but I do have some suggestions 1) Not having a paved sidewalk or ramp at the entrance made it difficult to get my suitcases in the facility. Recommend a Sadie walk from the Peking lot of the main house to the parking spots. 2)There were three spiders in the bathroom and nine in the room. 3)Please put the room number on the confirmation email.

THE BEST BOUTIQUE HOTEL I'VE EVER STAYED AT! I've stayed at many B&Bs in the Round Top area, but I just heard about The Frenchie and took a risk and tried a place I didn't have any personal recommendations to go to, and IT WAS AMAZING. A few highlights/tips/thoughts: *Every room you walk in is so special! You will love the pics you will get at this place. (But warning, you'll want to totally redecorate your home when you get back!) *The privacy--sometimes, in boutique hotels or B&Bs, I feel a little too close to others. Every room is private, with a private bathroom. And even though the place was full, it never felt crowded. I was there to work, and there were plenty of beautiful places for me to camp out at both inside and out. *The food/drinks/coffee--They have the most adorable coffee makers all over the property with it ready to make (and it's actually good coffee, not hotel coffee). There is a private Chef on the property ready to make you anything on the menu. Next time I'm going with friends so I can do the multiple-course meals! *AMAZING bed & pillows: This is a major complaint I've had at other places like this, but you will want to buy a pillow from their shop because they are made of pure magic. *I felt super safe: This mostly matters for anyone who is planning to come solo, as I did. Sometimes I feel very vulnerable in certain places, but safety wasn't once a concern for me while staying at the Frenchie. *Outside: There are wrap-around porches to sit on, private porches if you rent one of those rooms/spaces, an adorable outside wading pool, and a hot tub! And all of it backs up to this private farm, so you get to look out at a field of horses while you relax! It was like something out of a movie. I cannot recommend The Frenchie enough. I texted all my friends while I was there, and we are already planning our next girls' trip! (Although I totally had fun all by myself too!)

I had a terrible experience with the staff while inquiring with the hotel about an upcoming stay. From our research online, this seemed like the perfect spot for an upcoming trip to Round Top with my group of 3. I called to see whether they would be amenable to letting the 3 of us stay in one of their rooms with 2 full size beds since the booking page states 2 guests. My group of 3 was fine with the smaller set up. The staff member I spoke with was unwilling and rude. She told me there would be a $50 per day charge for the additional guest. I asked her what this was for and she just repeated that there would be a $50 charge for the additional guest. I told her I didn’t understand and she said that the charge is due to their 36 person capacity limit in the building. I said if there’s a capacity limit, why are you willing to disregard the capacity limit for a fee? I would assume capacity limits are set for fire safety reasons. She had no answer. She ended the call by telling the other staff member of our conversation, not realizing she hadn’t yet hung up on me. Very professional… I no longer have any interest in staying at this hotel. I do not feel any sense that the staff would value my business after this initial interaction. But, business must be great if they’re willing to lose hundreds of dollars from my stay over a $50 fee for an additional person. All in the peak heat of summer time. I will urge friends I know considering the Round Top area to avoid this hotel. There are great alternative options nearby to choose from. Take a look at Hotel Lulu, Farmstead, or local AirBnBs in the area!
