On the weekend of 13/14 Dec, we had a Christmas event at the British Motor Museum. There was no accommodation available in the local vicinity. expanding my research Ashorne Hill came up. What a gem. In a short review I do not think I can do this Place the justice it deserves. Let me be clear from the outset. Whilst the main function of this huge facility is directed towards corporate and group training, it should NOT put people off booking as individual entities. The original Ashorne Hill Hall is an 18th century marvel. Saved from demolition and restored to its former glory. The Main Reception is situated here. This is easily found by following the clear signage around the campus. Upon entering, for a few moments one is struck by the magnificence of its panelled interior. The Great hall adjoining reception is equally stunning. Ok, back to earth. The reception staff are most pleasant, knowledgeable and efficient. Our check in was swift and easy. Now, as mentioned earlier, the whole complex is geared around corporate events, and has accommodation to suit that side of its operation. All clean and to a high standard. However the old Quad Building is something else. Formerly an estate stabling building, it has been preserved in its original layout, but now, fortunately 🙂, the stables are all first class en-suite rooms, done to a very high standard, whilst keeping within the statutes of Listed building status. Nothing is too much trouble, and we had a very comfortable weekend here. It should be noted that for clients who have mobility issues, that due to the sprawling nature of the campus, there may be some walking to the accommodation. However there are several car parks dotted around which keep this to a minimum. As you have to walk to the restaurant, there is a covered walkway which protects you from the elements. This is well lit and the whole site is wheelchair friendly. The Bar and restaurant areas , again, are to a very high standard. The staff are all very attentive and nothing is too much trouble. We didn’t have an evening meal as that was provided at our venue within the BMM. However the breakfast was excellent. We could not fault Ashorne Hill. Pleasant, relaxed and well presented, excellent staff all round, and quite reasonable for the quality that is received. I should add as a parting comment, that as it is conference based, a bit like a Warner hotel, adult only.
