Where do I start? This hotel is wonderful, so beautiful and charming. I have been staying in lots of different hotels for a total of 3 weeks now because of some repairs being done to my house and this one blew the others out of the water. I called the day before I was due to arrive and spoke to Ian (assistant manager), I explained to him that my son has asthma and that I would prefer a room that did not allow pets. Ian spoke me through my options and advised me accordingly, I paid £20 extra and was allocated a room that didn’t only meet mine and my son’s needs but went beyond our expectations. When I arrived at the hotel I was blown away by the beauty of the building, the hotels I’d stayed in prior to this one (Travelodge included) didn’t have a fraction of as much character. Ian greeted me on arrival, spoke me through our dinner options and so on and gave me my keys. We went straight to our room to unpack, it was airy, clean, had all the hotel comforts you would expect and the view was wonderful. We then went down to have some dinner, Ian was brilliant again and went and got my son a highchair from the back so he’d have somewhere secure to sit and eat and the food was great. The lady bringing the food out was very friendly, she made sure that our empty plates were taken quickly and that the following course was brought out in great time. I also witnessed her providing the same great service to other guests who were eating in the restaurant area. We then went up to bed, it was quiet during the night and the beds were well presented and comfortable. I had seen some reviews prior to my stay and was sceptical about the hotel and what it would be like. People had written about creaking floorboards and damage to walls and so on but that is to be expected when staying in a building that is old and has so many stories to tell! None of the hotel was unclean and despite its age it was actually in very good shape. Before leaving I asked to speak to Ian to let him know how much I appreciated his help, I also spoke to the hotel manager who was lovely and touched by my appreciation of the service I received from all of the staff and for the actual building itself. I am not local to Tunbridge Wells but I will definitely visit this hotel again in the near future, I would advise everyone else to do so too!

Lovely stay! Staff couldn’t be more helpful, I was very impressed by them. Obviously the hotel has its quirks being a listed building but had a lovely charm. Could do with a little TLC in some areas but certain areas likely can’t be renovated. Stayed in room 316, lovely large room. Very clean, clean towels etc. Only downside was the balcony door didn’t close properly but it was so warm during my stay it was nice to leave it open. A fan was also provided in the room. Had a few issues with my room key, likely my fault from having it near my phone/car keys in my bag. So pre warning if you do the same you may need to pop down to reception to get it reset but staff were also happy to help. Parking is very limited, I was recommended to arrive before check in and there were a fair few spaces. I wasn’t planning to move my car during my stay but of an evening there were no spaces left. Bar was nice to enjoy some drinks, reasonable prices for a hotel. You could also get extra tea and coffee for your room from the bar so you could get as much as you wanted. Breakfast was nice and fresh, we arrived as it opened. Nice selection, would have been nice to have a decaf tea option but otherwise lots of items available.

Hotel is old and dirty. Room was noisy. Could hear every time to toilet was flushed in rooms above. Paint was dirty and flaking off window ledges. Windows would not open and close properly. Lift not working after we came back in the evening. My mum has knee problems and it was so painful for her to get back to our rooms up on the 2nd floor. Would not recommend staying here at all.

57th wedding anniversary ruined by horrendous experience at Travelodge Tunbridge Wells Room 310 . Radiator did not work . No hot water for shower or bath in the evening . We were told that there is an ongoing problem with the hotels boiler system . Not very good on a chilly February evening . A portable heater was provided and vouchers for complimentary breakfast issued. General lack of cleanliness and poor decorative order . Radiator was dirty and rusty and the fins were covered in accumulated layers of cobwebs and dust . Surfaces and skirting boards were covered in dust. Window was dirty inside and out and impossible to open for resh air . The edge of the worktop was splitting and unsealed . Numerous cracks in walls and paintwork. The floor creaked with every step . The bathroom was down three steps with no safety hand rail . Areas behind the toilet and sink were very dirty and rust stained . Because of time restrictions we ordered a meal in the bar . The Buddha Bowl with chicken strips took 40 minutes to arrive and was inedible . The chicken was rubbery and tasteless . We were given a refund and arrived at our evening venue late and hungry . At around 1.00am I awoke to find several small red bites on the left side of my body . Travelodge should provide a clean and safe environment for its paying guests but it failed to do this . Over 300 one star Trip Advisor reviews for this hotel are notice to Travelodge, and a warning to all prospective customers.

Awful. Room was dusty and hot. Bathroom was filthy with a tide mark around the batch from previous guests. Extractor fan didn't work when it should but would come on in the middle of the night. Bathroom door knob came away in my hand. Wallpaper falling off wall in stairwell with mould behind. Paid £15 to park in car park, only got in it one night and had privilege of parking down a road a mile away. Car park was full of transits, clearly not all hotel visitors. Spoke to supervisor who kept saying there was nothing he could do about any of the above (one wonders about the point of his job). Best he offered was a free breakfast, which nowhere near goes to make up for the worst hotel stay I've experienced in 60 years. I'm a regular visitor to Tunbridge Wells, it won't be here ever again. Avoid.

Everyone was very friendly, helpful and always smiling. Bed was comfortable, we did not eat there ( due to other comitments) and so unable to comment on food, but I thought the price was excellent. We would definitely recommend a stay there. We will be going back again.

My husband and I stayed at the Tunbridge Wells Travel Lodge recently. The room was clean and staff were very friendly and helpful. We didn't have any meals there due to other engagements, so I cannot comment on the dining. There were a couple of issues we did have, - plumbing in our room was not working properly. The toilet was not flushing and our shower was going from very hot to cold. This was sorted straight away, and we were moved to another room. I would recommend staying at the Travel Lodge. - When we go back we are booking there.
