I sit waiting for my breakfast to be prepared, it’s all cooked from scratch, preordered the night before. I have eaten my homemade beautifully prepared fruit salad from my cut glass dish. I’m drinking from bone China cups, Royal Albert, and listening to 1940s music from an old fashioned player. I feel like I’ve stepped back in time. I love it. 1940s elegance. The table cloths are crisp white and starched. The napkins are the same. No paper serviette here. I feel relaxed, settled and don’t want to step out into the madness of present day living. My bedroom is beautiful, elegant. Again the drinks tray has China and cut glass glasses. There is milk in the fridge that’s hidden away as to not spoil the ambiance. I’ve read the other reviews and am sorry the b & b is not to everyone’s taste. It certainly was to mine, and my partners. Audrey & Chris are friendly and you know they’re welcoming you into their home. If you want impersonal, I’m sure you’ll find elsewhere. I’d love to come back.

This is traditional real Norfolk B&B hospitality with the emphasis on customer service. Audrey is a wealth of local knowledge (just listen and learn) and a really lovely person willing to share her life and learning, traits equally reflected in Chris, who fronts and hosts the house. Rooms are in keeping with the traditional theme of attention to detail with fresh milk in the fridge, cut glass tumblers and wine glasses and fluffy towels and slippers provided. Lovely warm wood burner in snug and a wonderful historic and well preserved building. Ideal for Thursford Spectacular and North Norfolk coastline, and an ideal relaxing get away location for a break away from the hubbub of modern life, whatever time of year. We loved just talking with Audrey and Chris about life past and present. Lovely place, lovely breakfast, cooked fresh with local produce to order, proper coffee in cafetiere and scrambled eggs properly cooked, lovely people. 5+ out of 5 - but if you don't like bone China, fresh cloths, traditional decor and lovely people, go elsewhere and leave this gem for those of us who do - and who respect customer service and will return - time and again. Thank you Audrey and Chris, we had a lovely 71st birthday and Thursford experience with you - you made it fun and memorable for us - thank you, we will be back.

Stayed here for 1 night to watch the Thursford Christmas show. I booked 3 rooms for my family. We all slept really well, beds are comfortable and accommodation is in a peaceful location. Rooms come with toiletries, slippers & even ear buds, cotton wool pads for your make up. A real homely experience. Came back from evening show and enjoyed a night cap from the bar before going to our rooms. Enjoyed fresh fruit from cut glass dishes & a good quality full English breakfast served on fine bone china crockery. A real step back to the 1940s. Thank you for your kind hospitality.

Lovely, homely, quirky private residential b&b. Exceptionally good breakfast served in 1940’s ambience. Full of charm. Very comfortable rooms with high standards throughout. Quiet location. Went to the Cromer Pier Summer show which was amazing entertainment

Very clean and great ambience, a very traditional establishment, Audrey has lots of memorabilia from her entertainment days and 40's style nostalgia, great breakfast, presentation best I have seen. Looked like a nice bar, however we did not use, managed to park at rear of property two out of three nights, first night safe on the main road as car park full. Very quite village, Fakenham is the nearest place with facilities.

Delightful stay in every way: the welcome, the room, the facilities, the extra touches, the food (great breakfast), the atmosphere (lots of family memorabilia), the location, the wi-fi, the parking. The village is interesting too, with plenty of walks.

So was not the welcome we had foreseen , rather abrupt rude lady answered the door . I’ve been waiting for you I’ve got a prescription to collect from the chemist , rather taken back we commented well on a previous call we had stated it would be after 2.00 pm . Then we were told the booking is only for 1 adult ? So we bought the booking up on my phone where it clearly stated 2 adults , the proprietor then said she will phone her son who is out all day , she returned to us explaining it was a mistake on the guest house side . The parking is down a narrow road by the side of the chip shop you cannot view your car parked from the guest house . Anyway we were then taken to room 3 , nice en-suite , pleasant decor , milk in fridge for tea and coffee , no use by date on it , no label could it be skimmed / semi / or ?? . The bed in this room is very very low to the floor , if you are of senior age this is not practical at all. Light bulb on one of the wall lamps blown , needs replacing . Breakfast was excellent, if you would like to return to pre war era this is the place to stay , not modern old fashioned , 1940s music playing at breakfast . Very cluttered with ornaments etc . Noticed by front door loads of clean laundry bags that had been delivered but not packed away left at guest house entrance . Won’t be returning.

What a place! The staff are friendly and very intesting. The B&B itself a treasure trove of interesting items and story's to be told. The bar was well stocked and there was plenty to choose from. We stayed in a double room which was very cozy and clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom was very modern, a pleasant surprise for such a historic building. If you're looking for a hidden gem, this is it. Will definitely visit again
