Vaya Post Saalbach ★★★★

"I have stayed in numerous 4* hotels in Austria and invariably they are of a certain high standard, but the Vaya Post fell short of this and is really no more than a 3* hotels. Even then many 3* hotels score much more highly on food and friendliness. The positives. Location was good and very convenient, and our room was quiet. The room was OK, but nothing special and not what I would call “de luxe”, the stated category. Having a separate WC from the bathroom was good. Towels changed every day, even though we did not leave them on the floor for changing. Nespresso machine pods refilled every day. I liked (though not everyone does) having self service coffee in the dining room at breakfast as one does not have to catch a waiters eye all the time if one wants more coffee. Some of the staff friendly, but as one would expect. The negatives. No residents lounge and a very limited and unappealing bar area so nowhere to have a drink before or after dinner, nor to have a coffee etc when returning from skiing. So we either had to go out for a drink/coffee or have it in our room (thanks for the Nespresso machine !). Most hotels offer a small cake or snack in the afternoon, which is good business as it encourages guests to buy coffees, drinks etc. The sauna / wellness area was small and badly laid out, the swimming pool tiny, one of the steam rooms was never open, and nor were all the showers working.The ski and boot room was too small for the size of the hotel, and the only seating was four metal garden chairs. Very basic considering that many newly renovated hotels have designated lockers for each room for skis, helmets etc. The quality of the food was poor. Some 4* hotels have excellent food, others good food , but overall the food was poor and fell short of even basic restaurant quality. E4 charge for tap water - I appreciate some hotels do this but I always think this is indicative of what a hotel thinks of its guests. I appreciate not a family run hotel, and part of a group, but the manger should (as would the owner of a family run hotel) have made the effort to go round the dinner tables and meet and greet all the gusts at least once."

"What a fantastic apartment hotel. We absolutely loved it. I think we must have been upgraded as our apartment was far beyond our expectations. It was gorgeous, very spacious, with a pitched roof and twin aspect wrap around balcony which had the sun all day. The staff were wonderful. We went at a quiet time of year and Carlos (that isn't spelt correctly) looked after us from breakfast through to dinner. They were very accommodating of our dog. The washing machines and dryers in the laundry room where very handy and very reasonably priced. It's a great location, with a gentle downhill walk down the field into town. It would be a ski to and from location in the ski season and couldn't be better placed for the fabulous Hinterhag Alm apres ski hut. We hope to visit again in the future."

"Many thanks to Annemarie and Rafi, we felt very welcome and comfortable again. Hospitality is truly a way of life here. The apartments are fantastic, modern and stylishly furnished – Alpine chic! We had a two-bedroom suite – thank you so much for that ;-) with two bedrooms and two bathrooms (Rituals products), a living and dining room, a large balcony, and a fully equipped kitchen (e.g., with Villeroy & Boch dishes and a Nespresso machine). There's also a lovely sauna area. Daily cleaning is no longer offered, which isn't a problem for a two- or three-day stay, but it's necessary for longer stays. Dishwashing supplies are also no longer provided as standard; this should be added back. Definitely book the breakfast buffet – it's delicious and extensive. In summer, the JokerCard, which includes things like mountain lifts, is included. We always feel very comfortable here and will be back!"

"The Hotel is in the centre of Saalbach, very close to bus & cable cars. The Joker card issued by the hotel gives you free bus & cable car rides, which is excellent. The Alpin Resort Hotel is of a very high standard, with a brilliant team (at all levels), great food, lovely rooms and a fabulous pool to swim in after a long days walk. The Alpin team are extremely professional & helpful and all go the extra mile to make your stay special. We have stayed here 3 times so far and the standard remains top notch. We will return (as many of their other guests do!)"

"The room was supposed to be for four people, but it was quite small. We had booked half board, but the selection was difficult and the dishes weren't particularly tasty. After we contacted them about it, the second evening was much better. The food in the restaurant was good. However, the bar and the snack bar were unsatisfactory. The wellness area was fantastic!"

"Hotel Eva Village was everything that we could have wished for. It was quiet and spotlessly clean with a really comfortable large bed. Views of the mountains from our balcony and close to the two main cable cars. The food was delicious and there were afternoon snacks. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. We had a wonderful stay. Thank you!"
